Microsoft launches Dynamics 365 Commerce

As part of its ongoing efforts to gain ground against Amazon in the cloud war, Microsoft launched Dynamics 365 Commerce to help retailers run their business online.

The new app will allow brands to create detailed custom product web pages and will also support customer ratings and reviews.

Businesses can even communicate with customers after their purchase because Dynamics 365 Commerce integrates with other Microsoft software. They will also be able to display sales performance charts.

Dynamics 365 Commerce is an extension of Dynamics 365 for Retail from Microsoft. While the former focused on supply chain management, staffing, and promotions, Dynamics 365 Commerce focuses on providing retailers with the tools they need to manage their company's online presence.

Azure vs. AWS

Recently, Microsoft has made significant progress in the retail industry, positioning Azure to support AWS in the cloud infrastructure.

Large stores like Walmart and even drug stores like Walgreens are trying to strengthen their relationship with the software giant, because they no longer want to sell their businesses to their biggest competitor, Amazon.

In addition to launching Dynamics 365 Commerce, Microsoft also launched a new service called the Dynamics 365 Connected Store. Using sensors and cameras installed in physical stores, Dynamics 365 Connected Store can send alerts to employees based on customer activity during their purchases.

Marks and Spencer, a food and clothing retailer, has been an Azure customer for years. Currently, the company is using this new service to improve the shopping experience for its customers.

Microsoft's effort in retail and e-commerce is a welcome trend from companies trying to break free from Amazon, and as the cloud war escalates, the situation continues. It will probably continue.
