Microsoft Defender for Endpoint wants to help its employees use iOS devices

Contactless integration for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) is now available for iOS as a public preview, the company said.

In a weblog post, Microsoft claimed that this new feature "calms deployment friction" and "drastically reduces the time it takes to get your app on each and every device." MDE is a cybersecurity solution that can now protect iOS phones for work (XNUMX and above) against phishing, malicious apps, and stranded networks.

Basically, Zero-touch means that business administrators can push the app to iOS endpoints without user interaction. MDE is silently embedded and configured, then added to the Microsoft Defender Security Center portal, the user simply sees a notification that the app was installed.

Find jailbroken devices

Microsoft first announced contactless integration for iOS in the last month of the year XNUMX, saying that aside from defending against common threats, the app will also scan the network for jailbroken devices and assess the vulnerability of each device. device.

The same update also brought Mobile Application Management (MAM) support for Android and iOS devices not listed in Intune, and reduced the difficulty of integration for iOS users, allowing administrators to create VPN profiles manually. throughout the configuration.

Microsoft has been hard at work updating MDE with new features and capabilities. Last July, at the height of the pandemic and the growing popularity of remote work, it added support for printers and removable storage devices.

These features are designed to allow administrators to enforce access limitations on removable devices and monitor print jobs on non-trusted or non-commercial printers. The printer protection feature allows administrators to prevent users from printing to a non-corporate network printer or an untrusted USB printer.

At the same time, the removable storage access control capabilities added to the Windows version of the Security Platform complement existing device control protections for tasks such as installing a new device, deleting BitLocker storage, and more.
