Microsoft has introduced another family member to its line of Surface portable computing devices, the Surface Laptop Go, available for pre-order now in Australia and looks set to take over the supposed 12-inch MacBook. As the name suggests, this is a more affordable entry in the line of Surface Premium laptops (Microsoft's MacBook equivalent), starting at just AU$999 and getting more expensive with more powerful configurations. The Surface Laptop Go has a more compact form factor than its larger Surface siblings, and while Microsoft has cut costs by using an i5 processor for all configurations, you still get a well-rounded laptop. It has a 12,4-inch PixelSense touchscreen, full-size keyboard, fingerprint scanner, HD camera, and the promise of 13 hours of battery life. There is also a USB-C and USB-A port. In addition to 5th-generation Intel Core i4 processors, there are configurations ranging from 8GB, 16GB, or 64GB of system memory (RAM) and 128GB, 256GB, or 13GB SSD storage. Most importantly, the new Surface Laptop Go comes in three stylish shades: Ice Blue, Sandstone, and Platinum. As mentioned, Microsoft has already opened pre-orders, with shipping for the device starting on October XNUMX.
