MediaTek Dimensity 800U: everything you need to know about the new 5G chipset
MediaTek has added another 5G-capable chipset in its Dimensity series. The company announced the Dimensity 800U chipset for mid-range devices. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 and 6 series have performed so well over the past two years that MediaTek has almost flown under the radar. But, with the Dimensity series, MediaTek has made a big comeback and currently has Dimensity 1000, 1000 Plus, 800, 820, 720 and 600 mobile processors with integrated 5G modems.

It has an octa-core processor with two Arm Cortex-A76 processors clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 processors clocked at 2 GHz. The graphics will be supported by the integrated Arm Mali-G57 GPU and there's a separate artificial intelligence processing unit (APU) and support for LPDDR4x RAM. It is also a 5G compatible chipset with 5G dual SIM card, Dual Standby technology. With this MediaTek chipset, the company aims to bring 5G to mid-range phones. The 5G modem built into MediaTek's Dimensity 800U supports sub-6Ghz SA and NSA networks, dual voice over new radio (VoNR) and 5G dual carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA), which technically should bring faster and more stable 5G connections. . It also comes with MediaTek's UltraSave technology which will extend your battery life. In addition, the processor also supports a high refresh rate of up to 120 Hz Full HD +. It also supports HDR10+ content with the MediaTek MiraVision PQ engine with HDR optimization for multiple types of videos. As for optics, the chipset supports up to 64 MP for a single camera and a stack of four cameras. Camera capabilities include an onboard APU and ISP to provide a number of AI camera enhancement features. It also supports Voice on Wake-Up (VoW) and dual-microphone noise reduction technology that reduces the standby power consumption of the voice assistant.
