Mark Your Summer With These Video Game Soundtracks

Mark Your Summer With These Video Game Soundtracks

Summer is almost here (unless you're in the southern hemisphere), and to say we're excited would be an understatement. For many of us, life is finally getting back to being semi-normal. So, with the sun and longer days soon in full swing, we've put together a list of some of the best video game soundtracks that will add an extra dimension to your summer.

Stardew valley

Stardew Valley had to make the list. Composed by the game's lead developer and creator, Eric Barone, aka ConcernedApe, the Stardew Valley soundtrack is a lot like the game: relaxing, light, the kind of music you'd expect to hear in a seaside town. Stardew Valley by Design is a slow-paced farming and life simulation RPG that conveys the tranquility of the season. Great if you want to relax or want something to give you that sunny feeling. It's also nice to play in the background while you work.

Inframundo

The Hades soundtrack, written and composed by Darren Korb and voiced by Ashley Barrett, is just as exceptional as the acting. His guitar riffs and magnificent use of wind and percussion instruments give the impression of cooking in the heat of the warm Mediterranean sun. Korb has also created excellent soundtracks for other Supergiant Games Transistor titles and (also included on this list) Bastion, the crème de la crème of indie games. The Hades OST really showcases the skill and talent of Korb, who has so far proven to be one of the most exciting video game composers out there.

GTA Vice City

We couldn't make a list like this without including the legendary GTA: Vice City, whose soundtrack consists of a compilation of classic tracks from the 70s to 80s. There's everything from Toto Africa to vintage MJ. Rockstar Games always delivers great songs in their games, but GTA has been particularly praised for its music choices. For ultimate nostalgic summer bliss, listen to the Vice City radio channels in their entirety. Flash FM and Fever 105 are our summer picks, but there's also Emotion 98.3, Wave 103, and V-Rock.

Out of the game

Sega's classic arcade game, Out Run, was sorted in 1986 and became a video game for the best sellers at the time - a bande-son tout aussi classique qui est parfaite pour un lecteur d'époque 'Summer. Composed by Hiroshi Kawaguchi, this soundtrack is truly a trip back in time for some of our most experienced musicians. Out Run's soundtrack is a synthwave marvel, a music genre born from iconic '80s game themes, and has continued to inspire and influence a generation of people.

Bastion

This is our second helping of Supergiant games, again from composer Darren Korb. Bastion was the studio's first title and also a groundbreaking title. The soundtrack, written, composed, and produced by Darren Korb, is a haunting mix of American and Middle Eastern folk tunes. Sit back and relax in front of this masterpiece. If you haven't played Bastion yet, we recommend you do so; you will not regret.

NBA2K21

The NBA2K21 basketball simulator released by 2K has an excellent soundtrack that is definitely worth mentioning. While it's not the most popular game on Steam (its reviews add up to "mostly negative"), it does have an impressive compilation of popular summer party songs, perfect for any size gathering or party. Summer gym training and many features. fashion elements. hops, trap, muck and a bit of rock. Artists like Stormzy, The Strokes, The Weeknd and many more are emerging. It's very current, so many of these songs may already be on your personal playlists.

Bully

Our Rockstar Games second helper, Bully, despite its cult following, remains one of the award-winning studio's most underrated titles. A sequel was in the works back in 2013, but Rockstar has stuck with the idea and doesn't seem to be picking it up. Bully's soundtrack was composed by Shawn Lee. The songs matched the game well, but Bully (Original Soundtrack) is a great standalone album. Its soft, fresh and energetic rhythms will keep you in a summer mood.

Radio Jet Set

Jet Set radio, the classic 3D action skating game published by Sega and developed by Smilebit has a renowned soundtrack, most of which was composed by Hideki Naganuma. Naganuma is credited on many other video game soundtracks, including Sonic Rush, and as Super Smash Bros. soundtrack supervisor for 3DS and Wii U. The soundtrack mixes many different genres, including jazz, J-Pop, and hip-hop. . A later version released for European and North American audiences included brass pieces, perfect for music lovers with eclectic tastes.

The sims 2

If you don't know this gem of a soundtrack, know it, because it's a wellness classic. It's a mix of dance, rock, catchy pop and feel-good tunes full of Simlish. It's dance-worthy, but also just plain weird, ideal for a summer run or non-intrusive work music. The soundtrack was performed by none other than Mark Mothersbaugh, the legend behind the Rugrats theme (in fact, he composed all the music for the Rugrats cartoons and movies), Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II and 3, and many others. He was also a member of the 80s synthpop group Devo.

The Legend of Zelda - Song of Storms

What are you doing here? A song instead of an original soundtrack? Well, since it's here, it would be remiss of us not to talk about the wonderful world of Zelda's music, but Song of Storms is a force unto itself. Written by music legend Koji Kondo, composer of several of Nintendo's best titles, Song of Storms is easily one of the best songs in video game history. It sounds like a call to summer, rather than a call to shake the skies to open up and rain. Of course, it is "only" a song, but you can still listen to it and repeat it for ten minutes. Let's face it, among the many things that video games succeed at, music is definitely one, and you can find any soundtrack for any season, mood, or party, so take your pick and enjoy.
