Your Paramount Plus app is about to get a slew of new Showtime movies and TV shows, though you'll have to pay extra to watch them.
Paramount Plus has undergone many changes since its inception. At first it wasn't even known as Paramount Plus, instead it was called CBS All Access, and more recently it was announced that the Essential plan would soon be bundled with Walmart Plus subscriptions (likely with the goal of cutting Amazon Prime). or two).
However, the service is set to receive another change, as the catalog of content available on the Showtime app will now be streamable through the Paramount Plus app.
Unfortunately, this will not be a free update. If you want to have the privilege of viewing Showtime content, you will need to pay €12 per month for the Essential plan (with ads) or €15 per month for Premium (no ads); both plans will also include Paramount Plus.
But if you're reading this before October 2, 2022, you're in luck because there's a limited time offer where the plans will only cost €8 and €13 for Essential and Premium respectively. Even after the offer ends in October, you'll still get the lowest price (until you cancel your plan or Paramount decides to end the special pricing).
Alternatively, you can continue to pay $11 a month to get Showtime alone, and you can still get Paramount Plus for $5 a month for Essential and $10 for Premium.
This package is most likely an effort to help make Paramount Plus and Showtime more attractive after the merger of rival streaming services HBO Max and Discovery Plus was announced in 2023.
We'll have to wait and see if the gamble pays off, but either way, Showtime and Paramount fans now have a more convenient way to stream their favorite TV shows and movies.
