MacOS 10.16 Release Date, News, and Rumors

Apple's latest operating system for Mac and MacBooks, macOS Catalina, has been released, but what about its follow-up, macOS 10.16?

You can be sure that Apple is already working with macOS 10.16, which should be released in 2020.

In fact, it's a safe bet that the macOS 10.16 release date will be September or October 2020.

We can make this prediction based on the release date of previous versions of macOS. macOS 10.15 (Catalina), released in October 2019, and macOS 10.14 (Mojave), released in September 2018.

So we're still a long way from the macOS 10.16 release date, but if you're eager to find out what Apple has in store for its future operating system, this guide will bring together all the macOS 10.16 news and rumors. We found, with a list of what we want to see in macOS 10.16.

macOS 10.16 release date

We don't know the official release date of macOS 10.16, and we probably won't hear from Apple before much of 2020. However, we can at least guess, and in our opinion, the macOS 10.16 release date is very likely to be September or October 2020.

As we mentioned earlier, we are reasonably confident in this forecast, with Apple sticking to an annual release schedule for its macOS updates, with the latest versions of macOS released in September or October of each year.

Based on previous versions of macOS, we were able to witness the official reveal of macOS 10.16 at the WWDC conference hosted by Apple in June 2020. The WWDC (World Developer Conference) is (as it's called). indicates, for software developers, their future macOS (and iOS) operating systems.

In previous years, a new version of macOS is announced, as well as an approximate release date. Additionally, Apple generally releases an early beta version of the software shortly after, allowing developers and other brave users to test the software and catch any problems or bugs found before launch.

While that doesn't mean Apple sticks to this schedule for macOS 10.16, we'd be surprised if it goes too far.

MacOS 10.16 news and rumors

We haven't heard of macOS 10.16 yet, but as soon as we do, we'll add them here.

As for the rumors about Apple in general, we hear a lot about a likely 16-inch MacBook Pro, which would be a larger version of Apple's iconic MacBook Pro laptops with a new improved keyboard.

The latest rumor suggests that the 16-inch MacBook Pro could arrive in 2020. If this is true, it is possible that macOS 10.16 is already installed.

Even if you start before the release of macOS 10.16, the update to macOS 10.16 should be free when the operating system is released.

macOS 10.16: what we want to see

So with macOS 10.16 still in a few moments, what would we like to see in the next version of Apple's operating system?

A stable version

Launching a new operating system can sometimes be troublesome, and while Apple has certainly been more fortunate than Microsoft in this regard (recent Windows 10 updates have caused more problems than not fixed), we've also had the macOS Catalina issues since its launch.

People have had trouble downloading and installing macOS Catalina, others can't use their mouse, check email, and more.

So we'd like Apple to really take its time with macOS 10.16, testing it thoroughly and making sure it's free of as many bugs and issues as possible. Of course, a major OS update will always be a problem, but we'd love for everyone to be able to upgrade to macOS 10.16 without worrying that it might break something.

Best AirPod Stand

You can already use your AirPods with your Mac, but macOS 10.16 offers many possibilities to improve AirPod compatibility, especially with the new AirPod Pro.

The current support is a bit basic and the setup procedure could be improved to make it easier to connect your AirPods to your Mac. We hope Apple addresses are for macOS 10.16.

A new look and exciting interface.

We already like the look of macOS, but it's tempting to say that if it ain't broke, don't fix it, we'd like Apple to be a bit more adventurous.

For all that we give Microsoft in its Windows 10 updates, at least it is trying new things regarding the interface. Little by little we have changed the look of Windows 10 with each new version, and most of the time, we like what we have done.

It may be time for Apple to have a bold new vision for macOS.

Ray tracing support

We'd also like to see ray tracing support in macOS 10.16. While ray tracing is primarily associated with improving the graphics of the best games at the moment (and not in the interest of Mac owners), it is also an essential tool for creatives who want to create and render scenes. and 3D animations with realistic lighting.

These creations are often based on Mac and MacBooks. Therefore, the inclusion of the ray tracing function would be very beneficial for them, especially since rivals like the Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition have Nvidia RTX graphics chips capable of handling ray tracing.
