Love it or (*11*) hate it, (*11*) Windows 11 taskbar is here to stay, and it's getting better

Windows 11's redesigned taskbar has received its fair share of praise and criticism since the (*11*) update arrived in October 2021, but a year later, Microsoft is working on some improvements.

While a new (highly requested) drag-and-drop feature for the Start menu is still missing, the (*11*) appearance of the (*11*) system tray in the (*11*) bottom-right corner has been updated to better reflect (*11*) *11*) Appearance of labels in Windows XNUMX.

It's also possible to finally reduce (*11*) the number of "recommended" files in the Start menu, but there's still a long way to go before you can fully customize the menu.

You can already try this improved taskbar on your PC if you're a Windows Insider (Opens in a new tab), which lets you try other updates Microsoft is working on, but as for when the improvements come, it could be later. of (*11*) Windows 11 2022 Update.

The taskbar has been a divisive point for many Windows 11 users: The (*11*) taskbar and Start menu have arguably been an iconic part of the operating system since its debut in Windows 95.

Anyone who's used a PC knows where the Start menu is and how it works, so getting the major change introduced by Windows 11 is bound to generate some discussion. However, Microsoft has once again been slow to acknowledge these complaints from some users, and this has been to their detriment.

We're approaching a year since the release of Windows 11, and (*11*) the taskbar has barely seen any improvements. Worse yet, a former Microsoft engineer also expressed dismay at the Start menu in a series of tweets in August.

Design matters. Details matter. Especially in (*11*) a user interface as iconic as the Windows Start menu. I remember the team created a special ligature in (*11*) Segoe UI font (used in Windows) to make (*11*) "S" and (*11*) "t" line up beautifully for (*11* ) word "Start". That's how important Start was to Microsoft. August 29, 2022

Granted, some of the improvements we've seen in early versions of upcoming Windows 11 updates are welcome, but the (*11*) "Recommended" section of the Start menu is (*11*) the worst part for me. I don't need to see a list of recently used files, and for now getting rid of those files means I have to right-click each one separately to remove them from the start menu.

Let's look at an option to remove that and have the icons cover the menu, or maybe some widgets, like the weather.

Although we may see some improvements in (*11*) "Moment 2" update later this year, you can customize the Start menu thanks to Start11, a utility that can also recover menus from previous versions of Windows. This may be a good alternative to use while you wait to see what Microsoft has planned.
