LG's new projector turns your living room into a theater, and you'll hardly notice it's there

With the 2022 Oscars season just around the corner and more and more major streaming services bringing the latest releases to the big screen in our homes as they hit multiplexes, there's never been a better time to buy a projector. LG's latest CineBeam short throw projector fits the bill.

The LG CineBeam HU715Q 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector uses a laser projection system to project images up to 120 inches onto your walls or projection screen. Thanks to its short-throw design, it can also do this relatively discreetly: you need a distance of around 22cm from the wall to create a 100-inch image.

In other words, you can use it on a TV stand like you would a regular TV, compared to old projectors that had to be set up feet away from where the eventual images would be projected in order to hit those movies. bait screen sizes.

With 4K resolution and 2500 ANSI lumens of brightness, you should be able to comfortably view the CineBeam HU715Q during the day. HDR with Dynamic Tone Mapper works in conjunction with an adaptive brightness and contrast sensor to ensure you don't play too much with image settings at different times of day.

LG's WebOS interface is built in, giving you access to all the major streaming services, plus support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, making the projector a hub for your smart gear as well as a ready recipient. for any video or song you want. to stream from your Apple device. Even if you don't have a dedicated soundbar or home theater system, the HU715Q should stand out sonically too, with 2.2-channel stereo speakers for an overall 40W output.

Finally, a trio of HDMI outputs, including one that supports eARC, are onboard for your sources. No mention of HDMI 2.1 out of the three - we'll get confirmation of this as soon as possible from LG.

Big screen, small room

With the appeal of home viewing only growing in popularity due to the domestic nature of the ongoing pandemic, the idea of having a giant screen in the home is becoming increasingly appealing.

But the bigger the TV, the more space you'll need to house it, while you'll have to accept that for much of its life it will exist as a dull black slab dominating your room.

Some TV manufacturers, like Samsung with its The Frame series, have tried to alleviate this problem by giving the screen an aesthetic purpose even when not in use, displaying useful calendar information or artwork, for example. But a short throw projector seems like a more efficient way to get screen size without wasting space in the room. In fact, the CineBeam HU715Q features a fabric cover designed by Danish textile company Kvadrat to further reduce the impact of its footprint on the living room.

Pricing is set at €2999,99 / €2998,98 and will go on sale in the "first quarter" of 2022.
