Now, however, iPadOS 15 allows these apps to be displayed in landscape orientation, instead of portrait mode. With accessories like the Magic Keyboard requiring the tablet to be in landscape mode, it makes sense that this feature would be available now, albeit a year later than expected.
Analysis: Bring Native Instagram to iPad
While this is welcome for apps like Instagram and others, it does raise the question of why Instagram isn't natively on the iPad. As the tablet's cameras have improved a lot in recent years, they rival the quality of the cameras on the iPhone XS from 2018. But with iPadOS 15 bringing bigger widgets to the home screen along with features that have been around for years, it seems that Instagram can really take advantage of the screen space that the iPad provides. While it can be used in Safari to display photos and Instagram stories, it's a very short-lived solution to what a native iPad app might be able to do. In the meantime, getting iPhone apps to work in a view that users primarily use is a big win here, and that just means you can easily use the trackpad and keyboard on Instagram and more.
