IPhone 14 Pro can get 48MP camera and huge performance boost

The iPhone 13 series isn't even three months old, but our attention has already turned to Apple's 2022 smartphone series, which is expected to include the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and more. iPhone 14 Pro Max.

According to a new report, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could be set for a major camera upgrade that includes a 48 MP main camera. This represents an increase over the 12MP camera found in recent iPhone Pro generations.

This is from an analyst, so take it with a pinch of salt for now. However, Haitong International Securities believes that these new updates will be ready to land on Pro models of iPhones in 2022.

That was according to a note that was seen by MacRumors, and it lines up with what we've already heard from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who predicted an upgrade to a 48MP camera earlier this year.

The new report says it will be paired with 12MP ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, which is what we've seen in recent generations of iPhones.

The new note comes with additional information, namely that Apple could upgrade to 8 GB of RAM in the new Pro models. Previously, Apple included a maximum of 6 GB of RAM in its iPhone models.

8GB of RAM would fit better with what we see in Android phones, although we usually see more than that in these, and that could mean that Apple can improve performance.

None of this is certain, and there are likely to be some pending changes to the iPhone 14 series of next-generation Apple phones. We're currently expecting to hear about the new phones in September 2022, but we're likely to hear a lot more rumors and leaks before then.

Opinion: It's not just about megapixels

This camera upgrade rumor for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is exciting, but I'd like to hear a few more details before actually waiting for the iPhone 14 series.

Apple's iPhone 13 series featured some of the best camera phones on the market, and upgrading to a higher megapixel camera shouldn't affect Apple's camera prowess.

In fact, it could make Apple's camera performance even better than we've seen in the past, but I'm more excited about the new features.

A leak has previously claimed that the camera will include 8K video recording. This feature isn't particularly exciting for me as someone who doesn't have an easy way to view 8K footage, but I can't wait to see what else the phones can bring.

2021 brought features like cinematic mode, so we may see some interesting introductions to the iPhone 14 lineup that do the same for Apple's camera capabilities.
