Invincible Season 2 Release Closer To Final Update

Invincible Season 2 Release Closer To Final Update

Invincible star Steven Yeun has revealed that he has started recording lines for the highly anticipated second season of the anime series.

In the most significant development of Invincible season 2 so far, Yeun, who plays Mark Grayson/Invincible in the R-rated superhero TV series, has confirmed that he is back in the recording booth to work on the Prime Video program.

In a 20-second video posted to the official Invincible Twitter account, Yeun can be seen and heard saying "Can't wait to do more..." before the footage cuts to the iconic broadcast title card and musical accompaniment. There's a short but fun clip after the one involving Yeun, but we won't spoil it for you until you watch the video.

So, what are you waiting for? Check it out below:

The rest of the video doesn't poke fun at Yeun's lines that were recorded, and doesn't provide us with any evidence of a possible Season 2 release date. However, the video does officially confirm that Yeun will spend the next few weeks and months recording his lines for the next episode of Invincible, which is exciting in itself.

At the time of this writing, it's been almost 12 months since the Invincible season 1 finale aired - the brutal and gruesome showdown between Mark and his father Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, hit Prime Video on April 29, 2021.

Ever since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next two episodes of the anime series. Amazon Studios greenlit seasons 2 and 3 on the same day the last episode of the first season was released, but the wait for season 2 to arrive is still expected to be a while.

Still, it's good to see Yeun finally recording dialogue for Invincible season 2. In January 2022, the former Walking Dead star confirmed that she hadn't started working on season 2 yet, so we're glad she's finally doing it now. Hopefully the rest of the cast won't be left behind if they haven't already returned to record their own Season 2 lines.

Naturally, Amazon Studios has yet to confirm a release date for Invincible's next outing. But, if you're looking for more Invincible-based content while we wait, check out our thoughts on why the Season 1 finale is the blueprint for Seasons 2 and 3 to follow.

It's hard to predict. In March 2022, showrunner Simon Racioppa exclusively told TechRadar that the team was "working hard" to deliver Invincible season 2 as soon as possible. Considering the amount of work that goes into anime productions, we don't expect it to hit Prime Video for a while.

We're thrilled to have Yeun back in the recording booth, and we're sure his return means a lot of work has already been done on the pre-production side. However, there is still a good part of the development cycle to complete once the voices have recorded their lines.

In traditional 2D animation pipelines, voice-over work can take place during pre-production and/or full production. No matter at what stage of the process Yeun records his lines, there is sure to be a lot of work to be done before the release of season 2. The development stages include line testing, scene cleanup, and more. /sequence, composition, adding the program the musical score, the editing and the final checks, so Invincible season 2 still has a long way to go before it is ready for release.

Our guess? Don't expect Invincible season 2 to premiere on Prime Video until early 2023. As long as the next batch of episodes in the series are as good (if not better) than the last, we'll be more than happy to wait. And we suspect that you, dear reader, will be too.
