Intel reveals Arc Alchemist details, but doesn't say anything we all want to know about

Intel's latest video showed one of its Arc Alchemist graphics cards, the Arc A750 in particular, in action.

The video, as reported by Digital Trends, shows the Intel Arc card running Death Stranding at impressive frame rates between 85 and 100 on default settings.

The graphics card is powered by a Core i9-12900K processor and an Asus ROG Maximus Z690 Hero motherboard, while using a dual monitor setup of an Acer 4K 120Hz model and Alienware QD-OLED display. Clearly, Intel was using the Acer monitor to test Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) capabilities, which the A750 fully supports.

The A750 is also HDMI 2.1 compatible and manufacturers will have the option to install a protocol converter to convert DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1.

Analysis: Where is the release date?

The main problem with this demo is not what was shown but what was not announced, that is, the release date.

So far, Intel has released Intel Arc Alchemist in China, with a limited release in India as well. But when it comes to the global release date, mom is the word so far. And with Team Blue having stiff competition from Team Red, the fact that we still don't know when these cards will be released is concerning.

There's also speculation that arc cards might not be as fast as we originally thought, which, if true, would be another notch in the catastrophe belt. While this speculation was for the A380, it is something that could apply to other models as well.

The only way to find out is to get our hands on these cards for testing, so here's hoping Intel will give us firm information on a release date soon.
