Packages and prices

iDrive Compute offers a selection of subscription options, with annual and monthly payments available. At the lower end of the spectrum is a range of shared processor plans, starting at $5 per month for 1GB of RAM, 40GB of storage, and 1TB of bandwidth. Annual payments are also available, with a special price of €6 for the first year (€60 for subsequent years). Then there are the much more advanced shared CPU plans. The most expensive option costs €320 per month and includes 64GB of RAM, 1280GB of storage, and 12TB of bandwidth. Alternatively, you can opt for one of the processor- or memory-optimized dedicated processor plans. Again, there are many options available. Processor-optimized VPS starts at €40 per month for 4GB of RAM, 25GB of storage and 6TB of bandwidth. Meanwhile, memory-optimized plans start at $60 per month. This gets you 8GB of RAM, 120GB of storage, and 10TB of bandwidth. Hourly subscriptions are also available across the board, though the lack of a free trial is a bit disappointing. Additional charges may arise if you exceed your allocated resources, with additional bandwidth at €0.01 per GB.

To get started with iDrive Compute, you must first create a new account. One thing to keep in mind here is that you need a professional email address. Personal addresses such as @ gmail.com or @ hotmail.com are not accepted. Once you've signed up, you'll be taken to your account control panel, which is intuitive and easy to navigate. Add new VPS instances via the Instances menu on the left of the screen, select the desired distribution and get started. Other management options include SSH key, firewall, and user permissions.

Support

There are different live support options (Image credit: iDrive)

Support

IDrive Compute's customer service is fine, but has some flaws. Technical support is available by phone (6:00 am to 11:30 pm PST, Monday through Friday), online ticketing, email, and live chat. We tried live chat and got a response almost instantly. However, it should be noted that our questions were not very well answered. Instead, it seemed like we were getting a generic cut and paste response, which is a bit worrying. In addition to the live support channels, there are several video tutorials and an in-depth FAQ. The tutorial videos are excellent and cover various aspects of setting up and managing your VPS instance in an easy to understand way.

Alternatively, you can go for a more sophisticated option like Hostwinds, who offer a range of VPS website hosting solutions. Final verdict

Although iDrive Compute is a newcomer to the cloud computing space, it offers a great selection of VPS solutions. Its prices are competitive and the flexibility and scalability it offers are impressive to say the least. On top of that, the platform offers great security integrations, helping you comply with applicable laws and regulations. Customer service is also impressive, though phone support is limited to business hours in the United States. All things considered, we recommend using iDrive Compute if you're looking for an advanced, enterprise-grade cloud computing solution.
