Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 to launch with two smartwatches and two tablets
Huawei's US trade ban forced it to develop its own alternative to Android, and we're already at HarmonyOS 2.0. The new leaks suggest that the software update will arrive in June, along with two new smartwatches and two new tablets from Huawei. According to insiders on the Chinese social network Weibo (via GSMArena), these smartwatches will be the Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei Watch 3 Pro, the long-awaited successors to the Huawei Watch 2 (although we've had other Huawei smartwatches around while we wait). ). With the introduction of HarmonyOS on these smartwatches for the first time, we have a revamped user interface to look forward to, and support for eSIM and cellular connectivity so you can do more from your wrist. Rumor has it that the new Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei Watch 3 Pro will bring more features than the Watch GT 2 models, sacrificing some battery life along the way. It's also worth noting that these Watch GT 2 wearables also ran Huawei's custom software, so the move to HarmonyOS 2.0 shouldn't come as too much of a shock.

Continue taking the tablets

The tablets we expect to see are said to be the Huawei MatePad 2 and Huawei MatePad Pro 2, following on from the rather impressive original MatePad series that came with Android without Google on board. Previous rumors have indicated that these slates come with 12,2-inch and 12,6-inch displays, though we're not entirely sure which. A fast 120Hz refresh rate for the display has been mentioned, as well as a 40W charging rate. The big question will be how HarmonyOS 2.0 will compare, since the finished operating system has yet to be seen on mobile devices (a beta version is being tested). The big day for all these reveals is June 2, insiders say, so we don't have to wait long to see what Huawei has been working on. And the Huawei P50? We originally thought it would be released now, but the latest rumors point to a June release. These most recent leaks only mention smartwatches and tablets, so the Huawei P50 release date may have been pushed back even further.
