HP reveals Linux notebooks designed for data scientists

HP has announced a new software suite designed for data analysts and scientists for some of its workstations and laptops running Ubuntu Linux 20.04. Z by HP Data Science Software Preload is a popular data science toolset that will be deployed on select HP ZBook Studio G7 Mobile Workstations and HP ZBook Create G7 Notebooks. These machines are built for data scientists and have the compute resources to drive new software preloading for machine learning, deep learning, and data science workloads.

For data scientists

HP will preload a variety of data science libraries, developer tools, Docker container support, and other extras on those machines that will be running an Ubuntu 20.04 desktop installation. The preload combines NVIDIA's RAPIDS and CUDA components, along with the proprietary driver and popular machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, and more. According to HP, the workstations have been thoroughly tested and certified to ensure that the software works best in addition to installing Ubuntu 20.04. The California-based hardware company tested the package together with Canonical, the company that sponsors the development of the open source distribution of Ubuntu. Some of HP Data Science's Z-preload machines will go on sale later this month, while others are expected to ship in 2021. Via: Phoronix
