An update to a retail listing for the official Hogwarts Legacy art book could have given us a hint as to when the game will be released.
As seen by Hogwarts Legacy fans on Reddit (via VGC (Opens in a new tab)), the Amazon UK listing for The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy: Exploring the Unwritten Wizarding World has been updated with a date of December 6 release.
Customers who pre-ordered the book have also, VGC reports, received emails that the release date has been revised to December 6.

At this time, Hogwarts Legacy only has an official "Holidays 2022" release window.
While the game's art book won't necessarily release on the same day as the game, a Reddit user in the thread points out (opens in a new tab) another major release from Warner Bros in 2022, Gotham Knights (opens in a new tab) ), also has an art book that will be released on the same day as the game: October 25.
Sounds familiar
Now, if you're thinking 'wait, haven't we been here before?' then you would be right. It was back in February of this year that the Hogwarts Legacy art book was first announced and its release date of September 6 led to speculation that the game would launch in September.
However, this turned out to be inaccurate, as the game was later confirmed to be released in "Holiday 2022" and naturally, the book's release date changed as well. To be fair, that December 6 date does fall within the game's official "Holiday 2022" window, but it could still be a fictional release date for the art book.
That said, even if the artbook release date turns out to be December 6, that still doesn't guarantee the game's final release date. We'll have to wait for an official announcement from Warner Bros to know for sure.
It should be noted that the Amazon US listing (opens in a new tab) for the art book has a different date: December 31, 2022. The official game guide (opens in a new tab) also has a date of December 31. It actually seems much more likely that December 31 is a placeholder date than December 6, and indeed Reddit users noted (opens in a new tab) that the UK listing also had that release date of December 31 before its update.
This news comes just a few days after the contents of the Hogwarts Legacy Collector's Edition and Deluxe Edition appear to have been leaked online (via VGC (opens in a new tab)) after a Reddit user claimed to have found hidden files on the Hogwarts Legacy website.
If the release date of the updated art book and the information found in the various editions of the game turn out to be accurate, we could possibly see the final release date announced in the not too distant future. That "Holiday" release window is fast approaching, after all.
