Hellblade 2 developer Ninja Theory has released a new video diary showcasing the technology powering its upcoming experimental horror game, Project: Mara. And the results are simply amazing. Project: Mara takes place in a real-world apartment that has been painstakingly recreated in stunning detail. The team's new technology focuses on capturing the smallest details to enhance the realism of the game, such as the inclusion of dust and lint accumulated on the floor, and near perfect color accuracy for each object. Ninja Theory created a homemade scanner that allowed them to take materials like leather and place them in-game with incredible realism. It's honestly hard to tell the difference between an in-game item and an actual item, as shown in the trailer below. While no gameplay of Project: Mara is shown, Ninja Theory previously teased that the game would explore storytelling with a remake, just as Hellblade did with and how it tried to use binaural audio. to recreate the effects of psychosis. The UK-based studio said Project: Mara will focus on "the horrors of the mind in as accurate and realistic a way as possible." No format has been revealed for Project: Mara yet, but we expect to see it on Xbox Series S/X and PC when it launches.
