Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti GPU spotted on the Galax website, but don't be under any illusions

Nvidia's RTX 4090 Ti briefly appeared on the Galax website because the graphics card maker made a huge mistake, before it was promptly pulled.

As VideoCardz (opens in a new tab) points out, a top banner for the 'GeForce RTX 4090 Ti HOF' graphics card was posted on the home page of the Galax site, but it was a mistake as mentioned - an incorrect addition of the 'Ti', apparently clicking the banner takes you to the RTX 4090 HOF page.

It's a graphics card that exists, of course, unlike the 4090 Ti, and it's a special edition of the RTX 4090 for expert overclockers looking to break world records (the acronym HOF stands for "Hall Of Fame").

In fact, the 4090 HOF has already set records, such as a 3,8 GHz overclock applied by Team OGS. The now-corrected banner marks the worldwide release of the 4090 HOF, which was previously only released in Asia (or supplied directly to overclockers like OGS in Europe, in preview).

Analysis: No need for the RTX 4090 Ti, frankly

As VideoCardz points out, the Galax website team will probably have to lie in a dark room for a while, as there have been a lot of bugs on the site lately. Like the RTX 4090 HOF launch hardware marred by a bunch of typos, including spec errors. (By the way, this specification includes a maximum power consumption of 666 W, making it quite literally one beast of a GPU.)

Granted, the obvious rumor swirling around this incident is whether there might be an RTX 4090 Ti behind the scenes, and Galax accidentally mentions it because such a graphics card is on the horizon. Could this be true?

No, in a nutshell. There weren't any leaks around an RTX 4090 Ti, except for the tiniest whispers that didn't convince us at all, and if it looked like a near leak, we'd now see a bunch of more concrete spills.

We think an RTX 4090 Ti will eventually arrive, or it certainly may, but probably not for long. Maybe when Nvidia fixes the issues with power consumption and those fusion adapters, of course, and when there's a real need for a more powerful GPU.

Let's face it, right now the RTX 4090 is an extremely powerful graphics card that isn't remotely challenged by AMD's new flagship RX 7900 XTX, so what exactly would be the point of an RTX 4090 Ti in the future? near? It really is something to go a long way, and Galax's slide here is just that: a misstep (one of many of late, by all accounts).
