The Google IO 2021 annual tech event is right around the corner, starting on May 18, and many eyes will be on the main event for a preview of the Google Pixel 5a or Pixel 6. These are the two Pixel phones that we plan to release sometime in 2021, although it's far from guaranteed that they'll show up on IO as Android 12 will be the big draw, it's certainly possible. Google's Pixel phones are undergoing major changes right now, as in 2020 it seemed like the company was trying to make some big changes going forward. The Pixel 5 wasn't a premium phone, like the Pixel 4, but rather a mid-ranger. We also got a look at the Pixel 4a 5G, an upgraded version of the Pixel 4a, which sits between that low-end phone and the flagship Pixel 5. So while it's harder than ever to guess what the Google Pixel 5a, the affordable version of the Pixel 5, or the upcoming flagship Pixel 6 will look like, we can let the rumors and leaks in. some on both phones right now. Below we'll show you all the leaks and rumored specs, comparing the phones as the leaks and rumors suggest, should any of the phones launch on Google IO. Take all of this information with a pinch of salt, as nothing has been confirmed yet.
Google Pixel 5a vs 6 release date and price leaks
Google Pixel 5 (Image credit: Future) We haven't heard of any price leaks regarding the Google Pixel 5a or Pixel 6, and that's likely due to the aforementioned state of flux. It's really hard to predict how much a phone will cost if you don't even know if it's mid-range or premium. However, we typically hear price leaks fairly close to launch, meaning none of these phones will be available any time soon. Rumors currently suggest that the Pixel 5a will launch on Google IO; There are also reasons for this to happen, like the Pixel 3a launched at IO 2019, and the main reason the Pixel 4a didn't launch at the event in 2020 is that the event didn't take place that year. The Google Pixel 6 is much less likely to launch at the event, as the flagship phone usually lands later in the year. Never say never, sure, but don't hold your breath.Design and display
We have heard that the Google Pixel 5a could have a very similar design to the Pixel 4a 5G. You can see the leaked renderings of 5a below. And here's your first look at #Google #Pixel5a! #VoiceCommunity #OnlyOnVoice@VoiceHQ⭕️exclusive -> https://t.co/T9QJsCPmAD pic.twitter.com/yFi5scOj9u Feb 22, 2021 More Information As you can see, there is a fingerprint scanner on the back, a camera perforated on the screen and two rear cameras. The build appears to be plastic, something previous A-series phones were made of. The weakest of these images added that there was a 3.5mm headphone jack positioned on the top edge of the phone, and if you look closely you can see a small gap in the images indicating this. The Pixel 5a's display is apparently identical to the 4a 5G's, which is a 6.2-inch FHD+ panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. The Google Pixel 4a 5G was almost identical to the Pixel 5, with two key differences: the latter was slightly smaller and had a metal construction instead of plastic. We know a lot less about the design of the Google Pixel 6, but there's some interesting information to be found if you dig deep enough. First of all, the Pixel 6 is rumored to have an in-display fingerprint scanner: it's a technology that Google has so far eschewed using in its Pixel phones, and it's a big departure from the Pixel's rumored rear-mounted scanner. 5a. to have. Second, and this is far more iffy, the Pixel 6 could also have a front-facing camera built right into the display. We say 'dubious' because it's based on a patent that may not refer to the Pixel 6, but it's worth talking about anyway. There hasn't been a single rumor about the Pixel 6's display, and we've yet to find out if it's another small phone, like the Pixel 5, or if it's going up a notch in size. However, we can speculate: the mention of one-handed mode in Google's code implies that the phone is large enough to require software fixes, although it may refer to a Pixel 6 XL instead.
