Google has once again moved the Google Sites migration deadline from June 1, 2022 to the end of the year.

The company first announced plans to replace classic Google Sites with an entirely new offering in 2017, telling users they had until December 1, 2021 to switch to the new website builder.

Although this is the third time the loose deadline has been moved, Google says it won't affect the transition for users with personal Google accounts.

Converting from the classic Google Sites builder

The new schedule means that as of December 1, 2022, users will no longer be able to edit the remaining Google Classic Sites on the domain they own, and a month later, the Classic Sites will no longer be visible unless they are converted to Google. the new offer. . .

After January 1, 2023, Google will replace all remaining classic versions with a Takeout file and attempt to convert all classic sites to the new version. After the migration, all the classic sites will no longer be available.

"To ensure a smooth transition and access to the new features of Sites, end users and administrators are encouraged to use the Classic Site Manager to complete the migration and convert individual classic sites to new Google sites before January 1. Google estimates that the migration process could take several months for each domain making the move, depending on the number and complexity of each website.
