Google avoids the dark mode trend with a bright white remake for the Play Store

The Google Play Store has been revamped and unlike most of the recent changes made by Google, as it prepares for the imminent arrival of Android Q, there is no this time in an obscure way. In fact, the store is now brighter and whiter than ever.

The new design is in development (please load the store to see if it has arrived safely on your phone) and removes the colorful headers, square corners, and old store apps grouped in drop shadow boxes.

As Ars Technica points out, the new look is in line with Google Material Design principles, which aims to give all its apps and services a unified and streamlined design and use white as a background color.

Material world

Although the new Play Store coming to phones right now is decidedly optimistic, we are planning the appearance of such a simplified dark version when Android Q debuts in a few weeks.

Most of Google's other apps have already received Material Design processing, but there are still some issues that could be given a new look very soon.

We wouldn't be surprised if Google Play Music gets a new brushstroke in the coming days, losing its shadows and orange headlines. It will be interesting to see how Google manages its relatively loaded design, which uses album covers a lot and doesn't lend itself well to Material Design's minimalism.
