Google Cloud Print to launch in 2020

2020 is ending, like every other Google product. Google Cloud Print will no longer be supported on the platform starting Friday, December 31. The feature was built to support a ChromeOS print framework when it was released. This cloud-based printing companion allowed ChromeOS users to print, but also required printers to be cloud-ready, which wasn't always the case. Back in 2010 when it launched, not all printers could connect to the internet, which made it a bit of a hassle for those who had jumped on the ChromeOS bandwagon. Since most people didn't want to buy a new printer to use this service, Google quickly gave ChromeOS its own printing service that could run on a local network. This made Google Cloud, their quick fix, obsolete. Google announced last year that it was taking the step to shut down the service because so few people still use it. The time has finally come, with Google recommending newcomers switch to printing on ChromeOS devices or use another operating system's printing framework.
