Google Bard is getting better at math and more updates should be on the way

Google has launched a dedicated update page for its Bard AI, causing a constant stream of updates to head to the chatbot in the future.

Launched as a sequel to Bing Chat powered by Microsoft's ChatGPT, Bard is Google's answer to the AI chatbot craze, but so far it hasn't really impressed us. In our hands-on review of Bard, we found that while it packs a number of quality-of-life improvements compared to other chatbots, it's not the clearest when it comes to citing sources, and overall its responses don't seem to be the most exact.

However, some of these issues may be fixed soon, with Google launching a dedicated experimental updates page for the AI service, suggesting that Google has some updates to the chatbot it needs to keep up.

The first few updates are nothing major, more so over the next few, but we'll likely see a mix of small and big changes to the bot as users find it, and Google fixes it, plus performance glitches. We'll have to wait and see what updates to Google Bard have in store for us in the coming weeks, months, and beyond; I just hope Bard doesn't go down the same path as the old Google Stadia and Google Glass. projects if it doesn't gain popularity soon.

The first Bard updates are here

The experimental updates page already has an article detailing the first three updates Google has made to Bard.

The first is the launch of the updates page itself. Google explains that this page will not only help keep Bard users up to date, but should also help users provide better feedback on AI changes.

The first proper update is that Bard will now provide more suggested search topics when you click "Google it". The hope is that this change will make it easier to explore a broader range of topics related to what you discussed with Bard.

The other improvement is that Bard is apparently now better at math and logic. Google says that the AI chatbot should now provide slightly more intelligent responses to these kinds of prompts, though we still recommend checking Bard's calculations before trusting his answers, as he's still likely to make some mistakes.
