God of War 2 PS4: everything we know about the supposed continuation of God Of War
It's only been a year since God of War's reboot, released exclusively on PlayStation 4 and critically acclaimed (and our game winner of the year 2018), is already looking to the future. Although Sony is silent on the subject, the success of God of War means that a sequel (another God of War 2, perhaps?) is likely in the offing. Additionally, Sony Santa Monica has posted job openings for various roles within its teams, one of which clearly mentions the God of War reboot. At this point, God of War 2 will likely be coming to PS5 on PS5, but, not to be confused with the other God of War 2, we've chosen to call God of War PS4. So we gathered here all the rumors and news about the God of War sequel.

(Image credit: Sony Santa Monica) Sony Santa Monica hasn't officially confirmed that God of War 2 (or whatever it's called) is in the works, but we expect a sequel to be released only after launch. from PS5 for Holiday 2020, unless released as a launch. Next generation console title. This means that the game will probably release in late 2020 or early 2021. Whatever it is, we expect God of War 2 to come to Sony's PlayStation 5.

God of War 2 rumors

As reported by GamesRadar, SIE Santa Monica Studio has posted job openings for various roles within its programming, art, design, and tech arts teams, with one clearly citing the god of war reboot. Candidates for the Lead Battle Designer position "Must have knowledge of God of War (2018) and be able to speak in depth about combat systems, mechanics, and enemies." A listing for Facial Blend Shape Character Artist also specifically mentions "next-gen gaming platform experience" for the role: something that should narrow down potential candidates to a relatively small number of animators, as Given that the next-gen of consoles has yet to be released. A senior game host, asking us "to help us push the limits of action and movement in combat and to set the game bar on PS4," complicates matters. The God of War PS4 Theme
In April 2019, a new dynamic theme appeared on the PS4 to celebrate the anniversary of the God of War reboot. The theme featured Kratos and Atreus' oar, but contained a secret message (discovered by God of War fans on Reddit). The ship in which the two oarsmen carry runes engraved that translate (in English) "Ragnarok is coming". Could this suggest that the God of War sequel will focus on Ragnarok (essentially the Norse mythological version of the Apocalypse)? No God of War DLC
God of War director Corey Barlog said he had initially been considering creating downloadable content for the 2018 reboot, but was arrested for "too ambitious." This means that the studio can invest resources in an entirely new game, as opposed to post-launch content.

God of War 2: what we want to see.

At the end of God of War, we find out that Kratos's wife (and Atreus's mother), Faye, was actually a giant named Laufey. This means that Atreus is half God and half Giant and also has a totally different name: Loki. You already know Loki, the trickster from Norse mythology. Hopefully God of War 2 delves into this question and we learn more about Faye's secret past, as well as why she kept everything a secret. We also expect Atreus to embrace the shapeshifting abilities that make Loki famous instead of just being sidelined for shooting arrows at enemies. Atreus is no longer a child
The God of War sequel can continue directly from the events of the previous game, but we think it would be more interesting to see how a teenager, Atreus and the cranky father Kratos go on an adventure. the next generation
It seems highly likely at this point that any potential God of War follow-up will return to PS5 rather than PS4. This means we should see faster load times, better graphics, and a generally more powerful engine for SIE Santa Monica studios.
