Get ready for a team cleanup now Bastion can carpet bomb in Overwatch 2

Bastion has been reworked for Overwatch 2, it's stronger and more mobile, but there's also a bug that will allow you to turn your ultimate into a carpet bomb and crush the opposing team.

The walking, sentient battle tank Bastion has changed significantly in Overwatch 2. One key area is its new ultimate: artillery, which allows the player to fire three heavy projectiles around the map. Ultimates are only used a few times in a game after building up a charge effectively killing, healing, or defending. They're supposed to pack a punch when you finally get one, but a trick takes Bastion to a new level.

If you time it right, using a certain key in conjunction with a specific mouse click, you can turn three projectiles into an infinite barrage and cover the map with projectiles. This will immediately destroy any opposing team, secure the objective, and even win the match.

countermeasures

Something must be done to counteract this. This Bastion trick is unplayable and he is capable of taking down entire teams. There are reports of this hack being used in fast-paced and even competitive games.

Finding this quick game cheat is frustrating, even if the mode has no effect on season rankings - it's hard to have fun when a cheater is mopping the floor with you.

What's worse is the impact this trick can have on the competition. Unlike competitive quick game questions; losing a match in this game mode means your season ranking will drop. Trust me, when your SR kicks in, it's a slippery slope from there.

I have contacted Blizzard for comment, but have yet to hear back. Currently, there are no consequences for this soul-destroying trick. Therefore, you may need to take the law into your own hands and report players you see using it.

rolling thunder

This kind of hack at the beginning of Overwatch 2's launch doesn't surprise me. There will always be people who want to push the envelope and see how they can break the game. I'm guilty of this, not the hacking of Bastion. I like to see if I can jump into areas I shouldn't be able to get to. and have a point of view on the other team. It is a relatively innocent alternative.

Regardless of creativity, it can be heartbreaking if you spent the entire match defending the point effectively only to be brought down by a trick that isn't supposed to be possible.

Imagine this. With a minute left, I had a solid base to defend against further attacks on the target. I knew the attacking team had no ultimates, so victory was in sight. But then I hear the menacing, piercing whistle signaling an Ultimate Fortress, and suddenly the map turns red. I look up at the sky, hopelessly, because I can only stand there and let a barrage of projectiles rain down on me and my teammates.

Even if I knew how to do this, I'm not going to tell. I refuse to condone this stupidity. Unless, of course, you're in a custom match with friends and they deserve it. In this case, the end justifies the means.
