Gaming laptops with Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs are about to launch

Intel's first Arc Alchemist graphics cards will be officially unveiled on March 30, just days away, and the first batch of gaming laptops equipped with these GPUs will launch soon.

We were previously told about the March 30th press event, though now we know the exact time: 8:00am PST (ie 3:00pm these will be laptop graphics cards) was accompanied by an interesting response from the Intel support account on Twitter.

Yes! We are about to launch our new Intel Arc graphics solution. Arc GPU OEM devices will be released at the end of this month. You can get your first look at our portable discrete graphics on March 30 at 8:00 AM. m. PST via https://t.co/rKmNtFEPYFMMarch 26, 2022

As you can see, this latest tweet clarifies that this release is for early Arc graphics cards and that "OEM devices with Arc GPUs will be released later this month" (meaning desktop laptops of course).

We'll apparently get our first look at Alchemist cards on March 30, with multiple laptops featuring these GPUs launching at the same time or the next day.

Analysis: Arc is finally on, but when will we see the big guns?

As VideoCardz, which spotted the tweet, points out, there are several leaks about which laptops are expected to carry the first Arc GPUs, and these include the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro and Acer Swift X that have been spotted through retailer listings that have taken the step

As for the revealed Alchemist graphics cards, these are probably the lower-end laptop models (probably two of them). There will be work on GPUs for more powerful gaming laptops, and Intel's desktop graphics cards are also coming later, scheduled for release in QXNUMX. As some of the most cynical comments on the net point out, the date to mark on your agenda may be the penultimate day of June.

Joking aside, the release date for desktop Alchemist GPUs is likely still quite a long way off, like at least a few months from now, or so we recently heard from the rumour. Speculation pointed to a May or June release, which makes sense given the delays we've seen from Team Blue so far.

As we said before, we think it's a good idea for Intel to take its time and get these cards (and graphics drivers) right, rather than risk a bad first impression when they go on sale; a perception that could hover over Arc's range for some time afterwards, even after the bugs have been fixed.
