The German automaker has announced more information about the premium Mercedes EQS electric car, and the latest reveal gives us a good look at the technology inside the car, as well as doubling down on its impressive range stats. The all-electric EQS ​​sedan will be the first car from the brand to offer the option to fit the curved Mercedes Hyperscreen mammoth when it rolls off production lines this year (price to be confirmed, but it will likely be expensive). First announced earlier this year at Virtual CES 2021, the massive 56-inch Hyperscreen spans the full width of the EQS and features dual turbine-inspired air vents as well as three separate screens. To quickly refresh your memory on what the Hyperscreen has to offer, there's a 17.7-inch main center screen, a 12.3-inch passenger screen, and a 12.3-inch dash screen. The system runs the Mercedes MBUX interface and everything is powered by an octa-core processor with 24 GB of RAM. Mercedes says it's the smartest display ever installed in a car, and it's also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A selection of sound

Mercedes has also developed a trio of different sound universes for the EQS. Since electric cars are so much quieter than their combustion engine counterparts, manufacturers are looking for new ways to provide audible feedback to drivers. The answer that Mercedes offers are three different sound worlds; Silver Waves (which is clear, plain and simple, according to Merc), Vivid Flux (seemingly aimed at techies), and Roaring Pulse (for those with strong associations with powerful machines). These sounds are played through 15 speakers located throughout the cabin to create a 3D world and respond to the driving mode you are in and the current situation. If you drive in Comfort mode at low speed in the city, the sounds will be minimal, but switch to Sport mode and put your foot down and things become much more audible. There's no switch for the volume of these sound worlds, so you'll have to make do with whatever dynamic volume the EQS chooses, but the good news for those who might be put off by all of this is that you can turn the worlds off. .sound. completely if you prefer silence. The Mercedes EQS will benefit from more sound experiences in the future, and the company confirms that it will add more in live updates.

Record aerodynamics

Mercedes also provided us with more information on the EQS's specifications. He said earlier in the year that the EQS could offer a range of 700 km (around 430 miles) on a single charge, but that has now been increased to 770 km (around 480 miles) for specific configurations. This would give a much higher EQS than most other electric cars currently available. Part of the reason the EQS can achieve such exceptional range is the fact that it holds a world record for aerodynamics, as the world's first automotive production car with a Cd value starting at 0. It will be available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, the batteries will be 20 kWh and 90 kWh with support for 107,8 kW fast charging (200 km / 300 miles in 180 minutes) and its speed. limited to 15 km/h (210 mph).
