Feelmore Labs Cove One Minute Review

Cove is just one of many devices on the market aimed at helping you relax and reduce your stress and anxiety levels. It comes in the form of a combo kit with a portable headset and a support app that makes up the kit. After initial setup, simply turn on the headphones, select a relaxing 20-minute session in the app, and enjoy the sensory powers of this laptop on your nervous system. While the Cove is a go-anywhere option, it also needs some improvements, with a headset that could be more fun to use and an app that also needs some functionality tweaking. We appreciate its calming powers, but personally it won't replace a 30-minute jog around the block for us. If you don't want to or can't go this route, Cove is worth exploring, despite its steep purchase price.

Feelmore Labs Cove Pricing and Availability

Cove costs $490 / €369 (about AU$674) purchased direct from Feelmore Labs, with the first iteration appearing in 2020. The company is also working on a revised model, which it says will fix some of the issues with the original incarnation. . .

Feelmore Labs Cove Design

Wearable technology isn't new, but it's surprising how much the latest devices feel like they're in development. Out of the box, Cove also appears a bit like that. The Relaxation Puzzle Wireless/Bluetooth Portable Headset comes in a collapsible plastic container, so you can store it safely when not in use.

Feelmore Labs Cove Device

The Cove headset is comfortable to wear and you can wear it while doing other activities (Image credit: Feelmore Labs) The headset itself is also largely plastic, but with some sort of rubberized finish that holds all the technology. As you'll see in the pictures, the design is a headband-headpiece-headpiece-goggles arrangement. We had to check the website to see exactly how to set it up, but once in place the unit was quite comfortable. However, it widens it out using a slider in the middle of the flex bit, which is decidedly cheap and cheerful considering the Cove's high price point. The other slightly annoying aspect of having the cleat on the back of your head is that you end up resting on it if you want to lean back and relax. This is probably the last thing you want during a stress relief session. However, the Cove was designed to let you do other things while enjoying its relaxing charms, so it's just as great if you're standing at the kitchen sink doing the dishes. Along with the nodules that sit comfortably on the side of your face, just in front of your ears, there's a power button on one side and a plus and minus control on the other for changing intensity settings. There's a port for charging right next to it, with a cable provided while the LED flashes green once it's fully charged. Cove suggests you'll get four sessions per charge, and it can be fully charged in 60-80 minutes.

Feelmore Labs Cove and smartphone with associated app installed

The Cove app is an essential part of the experience (Image credit: Feelmore Labs) If you're not a big fan of apps, avoid right away as the other part of the design involves the Cove app and signing up for one free account. You will need it to set up and use your device, as well as to get the most out of it in the future. The app is smooth and fairly straightforward, although you can't use Global Config until you've done the latest firmware update. We had to do it and it took longer and more complicated than expected, with the LED blinking white for what seemed like forever.

The Feelmore Labs Cove Performance

If you're eager to start reducing those stress levels or want to sleep better, the Cove's early performance might leave you wondering why it costs so much for what it does. However, before that, we had to put up with firmware update issues. It didn't work the first time and the second time it took so long that we wondered if the drive might have crashed. It finally worked on the third try, after quitting the app and restarting it. Playing around with your helmet on to get the right fit feel isn't an exact science either. However, once everything is set up, Cove works as expected. It seems to affect different people in different ways. This isn't surprising given that we're all individuals, but it was interesting to see how the intensity levels affected three different people who tried it in our home. In that sense, Cove feels a bit like you want to try it before you buy it, especially considering the cost. However, Feelmore Labs has a 45-day return policy to alleviate this issue.

Man wearing Feelmore Labs Cove

Cove advises using the lowest vibration setting you can feel (Image credit: Feelmore Labs) If you wear glasses, you may find that they clash with the nature of the ear design, but these little vibrator motors work well delivering different levels of vibration. intense ringing in the right places on the side of the ear, his head. Above all, it is better to select the lowest vibration level possible, while still noticing it. Sharpen it right, and the experts at Cove say the sensory experience will connect with your island bark, helping you de-stress, relax, and relieve anxiety. While there seems to be a lot of research done on how this works, there doesn't seem to be anything concrete to pursue. From the feelings we had during our time with her, Cove seems to help calm a stressed freelance writer. It's great that she can do other things with the Cove on her head and a 20 minute program running (she can slow them down or stop them sooner if necessary). We will definitely be using it for the next few months in search of that elusive sea of tranquility, which always seems just out of reach. First reviewed in September 2021
