Exclusive: OnePlus 8 series launch in mid-April
No new flagship conversation is complete without mentioning OnePlus. Fortunately, it looks like we won't have to wait long for the OnePlus 8 series launch. TechRadar India has learned from a source close to the company that the OnePlus 8 series will be unveiled in the second week of April. Historically, OnePlus staged global and Indian launches on the same day, or very close to each other. We expect this trend to continue this time as well. The product has not been confirmed. However, numerous leaks have indicated that OnePlus will go from three product lines to two, with the introduction of a "Lite" model. It is unlikely to be a budget smartphone and most likely a premium mid ranger.

OnePlus 8 series: what to expect

(Image credit: OnLeaks) The OnePlus 8 Lite would move to a new angular design, with early OnLeaks renderings suggesting a smaller 6.4-inch display with a hole-punch for the selfie camera. Since OnePlus confirmed last year that all future devices will show high refresh rates, we expect the 8 Lite to have a 90Hz refresh rate. The renders reveal a triple camera setup, with a high-resolution main camera, lens ultra wide angle and ToF depth sensor. Indoors, we expect it to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset

(Image credit: OnLeaks) As for the OnePlus 8, we could consider a larger, curved 6.6-inch display with a punch-hole selfie camera in the left corner. Although the resolution is still Full HD+, it's likely to hit a 120Hz refresh rate. On the back we see a triple camera setup similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, with a high-resolution main camera flanked by an ultra wide angle and a telephoto lens.

Like the OnePlus 8, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset, with 5G likely cut out as well. It will have a setup with four cameras, adding a ToF sensor to the main, ultra-wide and telephoto combo. Bigger batteries and faster Warp charging standards could also debut on the OnePlus 8 series. There are also whispers of wireless charging and IP certification finally coming to OnePlus devices, which could mean higher final sales prices. The company is also reportedly working on a pair of true wireless earphones, which are also expected to share the stage. With barely a month to go until launch, OnePlus is expected to formalize things on a day-to-day basis.
