Every new IFA 2020 TV and projector: Samsung, Philips and more

Every new IFA 2020 TV and projector: Samsung, Philips and more
IFA 2020 hasn't been the seismic technology event it usually is, probably because it was closed to the public this year, with most of its conferences and showrooms online. Some big brands have withdrawn from the event entirely and there have been few stories compared to previous years. That being said, for AV enthusiasts, there have been some flagship announcements over the past week from Samsung, Philips and Optoma, with new TVs and projectors looking set to shake up the market and prove it. certainly exciting competition for both. From new projector lines to unexpected 8K TVs, here's this week's AV news to remember when these models launch in the coming months. It should be noted that we haven't heard anything about the LG BX OLED, but expect launch information to be announced relatively soon.

1. Philips OLED + 935 TV

While the existence of the Philips 935+ OLED TV was first leaked back in July, only now is Philips proudly showing off its flagship 2020 OLED. With four-sided Ambilight, a fourth-generation P5 processor and an integrated 70W 3.1.2ch speaker from audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins, with whom Philips has collaborated on several high-end TVs, it's a home theater in good faith in himself. Notably, it's also available in a 48-inch size, as well as more standard 55- and 65-inch models. This makes it the third 48-inch OLED, after the LG CX and Sony A9G. 2. Philips Hue Play degraded light strip

Despite the above news, Philips seems to have put itself in a bit of a competition with Ambilight, having shown off a new Philips Hue Play gradient light strip that basically lets you turn any TV (55-85in) into an Ambilight set. You just need to mount the light strip to the back and sides of the TV and, as long as you've connected it to the Philips Hue HDMI Sync Box and Hue Bridge, watch it do everything we love. by Ambilight. Pricing starts at €159 / €199 for the 55-60 inch waist, up to €179 / €219 for the 65-70 inch and €199 / €240 for the 75-85 inch respectively, and is available in as of October 6.

3. Samsung Q700T 8K TV

A surprise announcement from the surrounding IFA showcases, the Samsung Q700T 8K QLED is an entry-level 8K TV that brought the price down from the Q800T QLED we reviewed earlier in the year. It starts at just €1,999 (around £2,700 / AU$3,600) for its smallest 55-inch model, a size never seen on higher-spec QLEDs this year. However, the ad mirrors IFA 2019, when Samsung introduced the first 8-inch 55K TV, and that means viewers after an 8K TV they can afford and reasonably fit in their homes have a choice. While processing isn't affected, the Q700T makes do with half the dimming areas of the Q800T, with a lower HDR rating meaning brightness and glare control will likely be less impressive. You still get premium features like OTS+ (Object Tracking Sound) for three-dimensional audio.

4. Samsung Premiere projector

Samsung has announced the launch of its Premiere line of home theater projectors, with two projector models coming this year, including a 4K triple laser projector that brings HDR10+ to home projection for the first time. The LSP9 flagship projector, compared to the cheaper LSP7 model, will also feature a 4.2-channel speaker system ("two woofers, two tweeters") with 40W output, as well as Samsung's Acoustic Beam technology. on your best soundbars for directed room-filling surround sound. The LSP9 will also have a slightly larger projection of 130 inches, and the LSP7 will top out at 120 inches.

5. Optoma CinemaX P2 projector

Ok, so technically it wasn't an IFA announcement, but it landed in the first week of September, so it's worth collecting here among their IFA-announced contest. Optoma has unveiled the successor to the CinemaX P1 projector, which is a US-only model, though it does have a UK/European equivalent in the UHZ65UST, meaning the latter should also get an upgrade in the coming months. . The P2 is set up to be an ultra-bright 4K projector, with a brightness of 3000 lumens and a 40K speaker. There is also an Enhanced Game Mode that is designed to appeal to console gamers. However, it should be noted that the 67,1ms input lag (for HD sources) can't compete with purpose-built gaming TVs and sub-10ms monitors.

6.LG CineBeam HU810P Projector

The only new thing we got from LG this week was the latest model in its excellent CineBeam line, the HU810P. LG's new CineBeam model comes with 2.700 lumens of brightness and could be about to take the top spot in our best projector guide, unless Samsung or Optoma top it, that is. The biggest draw, however, is the sheer size of the projection, with the HU810P capable of projecting images as small as 40 inches and as large as 300 inches. IFA 2020 is Europe's biggest tech fair (although much smaller this year due to global restrictions), and TechRadar will bring you all the breaking news and first impressions of new TVs, wearables and other gadgets like what's on. announce.
