Elden Ring supports four player online multiplayer

FromSoftware's highly anticipated Elden Ring made a reappearance today as part of Summer Game Fest 2021. A new trailer for the game has shown off the world that players will be exploring, both on foot and on horseback. Another illustrated gameplay mechanic is Classic Summoning, which allows players to attract friendly blue ghosts from other players to help them navigate the dangers ahead. In additional documents, publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed that Elden Ring supports four-player cooperative play. Players can "...ride on foot or on horseback, alone or in line with friends, across grassy plains, sweltering swamps, and lush forests." It is currently unclear if the game also supports PvP (player versus player) invasions like previous games. Invasions and Co-op were two staples of previous FromSoftware games like the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne, however, the title 2019's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice eschewed these two mechanics for a solo-only experience.

Coming next year, waiting without delay

In addition to the new gameplay footage, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have confirmed a January 21, 2022 release date for Elden Ring. If there is no delay, fans will be enjoying the game in just seven months. Elden Ring is coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and PS4. The game supports intelligent delivery on Xbox platforms, as well as a free update on PlayStation systems.
