EE extends 5G to transportation hubs and new cities

EE has activated 5G in several major transport hubs and suburban cities in the UK to improve the coverage offered to customers traveling to work.

The BT operator launched 5G in London's busiest neighborhoods, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester in May and plans to roll out to a further ten major cities by the end of this year. of the year

This ambition will be a further step towards the realization of next week, when EE 5G will be operational in Bristol, Leicester and Coventry.

However, passengers at major London stations such as Waterloo, Liverpool Street and Kings Cross will have access to the network, while EE has started to extend coverage to nearby cities.

Parts of Solihull, Dudley, Sutton, Coldfield, West Bromwich and Lichfield in the West Midlands have been activated, as have Salford, Oldham, Ashton-under-Lyne, Rochdale and Milnrow. Around London, 5G EE is available in Kingston, Grays, Romford, Chatham and Gillingham.

Therefore, EE takes the opportunity to boast that its 5G network is available in more places than any other operator.

"Turning on 5G in busier places will help keep our customers connected to the things that matter most to them," said Marc Allera, CEO of BT Consumer. "Our engineers are building new 5G sites every day and increasing the capacity of 4G sites - it's all part of our ambition to keep all of our customers connected 100% of the time."

Its rival, Vodafone, switched to a 5G network in July with plans to expand to 19 cities before the end of the year. Three offer 5G home broadband services in the capital, while O2 plans to move to all four UK capitals later in 2019.
