Predictions of the E3 two thousand twenty-one of LaComparacion: the good, the bad and the unlikely
E3 3 is fast approaching and here at TechRadar we are starting to feel the buzz. While E3 is going to be a bit different this year, taking the form of a digital event rather than an in-person expo, that hasn't dampened our spirits (too much). Following the cancellation of E3 3, we're more than ready for a season of big game announcements, reveals, and teasing. It's like Christmas day for gamers. And one of the best parts of preparing for E3 is forecasting what we're going to see. So we've rounded up the TechRadar team's predictions for EXNUMX XNUMX. While some of these predictions are probable and others possible, there are many that are just wishful thinking. But it's kind of fun and it's EXNUMX after all: anything can happen.

Zoom in fable

Fábula

(Image credit: Lionhead Games) Vic Hood, Game Editor I'm a huge fan of Fable and when Fable Four (officially called "Fable") was discovered in 3, it's fair to say I was somewhat shaken. We may have only had a trailer a few seconds long, but it was enough to get me going. Hopefully this EXNUMX we'll get a closer look at what we can expect from the new Fable: where it has room, what creatures we can expect to see, if it's still going to be hero-focused, and if the weather gossip... travel is truly real. Even if this is just a movie trailer, please Microsoft. Give me something.

Skate four reveals

Patinar

(Image credit: EA) Axel Metz, Editor-in-Chief There's some sort of skateboarding project going on at EA, that's for sure. Eleven years (eleven!) have passed since the release of Skate 3, and in the first month of summer last year, the game's developers sent fans of the franchise into a frenzy after announcing that they were "back", whatever that means. Could we see Skate XNUMX officially (and finally) announced at EXNUMX XNUMX, then? It's not a game we'd expect to be able to play anytime soon, what's a few more years after a decade of waiting, right? However, it would be great to see EA trade shooters for skateboards for at least a few minutes.

TimeSplitters two HD

TimeSplitters 2

(Image credit: Free Radical Design) Daryl Baxter, Software and Downloads Writer Finally it happens. Free Radical returns with original creators David Doak and Steve Ellis, with the sole purpose of creating a new TimeSplitters game. It doesn't seem likely we'll see this anytime soon, so I'd love to see an HD remaster of the original trilogy, or just the second entry, announced at E3 XNUMX. Especially with the Switch Pro to be announced, playing TimeSplitters XNUMX on this handheld, in online multiplayer, is one thing that might as well wait until the new game arrives.

More Command & Conquer Remasters

ordena y conquista la colección remasterizada

(Image credit: Electronic Arts) Samuel Roberts, entertainment editor My best gaming experience through the 2 pandemic was playing real-time strategy games from the 2s. EA resurrected Command and Conquer and Red Alert for a nice and cheap upgrade in last year's remastered compilation, and now it's time for 3 more games in the series. receive similar treatment. I would love to see EA announce that they are going to do the same with Red Alert XNUMX and Tiberian Sun, XNUMX other traditional ones that would benefit from new sprite art, animations and UI tweaks. Sure, you could forecast something like "Elden Ring will appear at Xbox conference" on your site as a more exciting EXNUMX prediction, but isn't everyone on the internet essentially saying that already?

The year of Final Fantasy?

Final Fantasy 16

(Image credit: Square Enix) Rhys Wood, Editor-in-Chief Square Enix has certain great Final Fantasy titles in the works, as we know: Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, Final Fantasy Seven Remake Intergrade, and Final Fantasy Sixteen. It's been a while since we heard about the next big installment of Final Fantasy, so I think E3 would be the perfect occasion to launch a new trailer for the much-hyped FF16. It would also be great to see Dark Souls-inspired Final Fantasy gossip come to fruition, and it would certainly be an unusual year for Square Enix's flagship series.

Spyro 4 announcement

Spyro

(Image credit: Toys for Bob) Hamish Hector, editor Activision may have built a reputation for the CoD factory, and it hasn't done itself a favor given the recent news of the firing from Toys for Bob, but hopefully it uses it. 'E3 to remind us that it has many other IP addresses. under his belt. My favorite is Spyro, and I am convinced that we are finally going to see a sequel to the Spyro Reignited 3 trilogy announced this year. Although the publisher has yet to give any specific plans for EXNUMX, its name has been included on the official list of companies attending the event, so it's probably going to have some sort of presence, preferably one involving everyone's favorite purple dragon. .

GTA 6 Official Trailer

GTA 5 en PS5 y Xbox Series X

(Image credit: Rockstar Games) John McCann, Global Editor Okay, this is a stretch, I know. And clearly it's a matter of the heart over my head. It's been 8 long years since the release of GTA 3, marking the longest time we've had between major installments of the popular open world game. GTA XNUMX gossip is making its way onto the web, and while some is debunked, things seem to be developing slowly. Rockstar doesn't have a press conference at EXNUMX and tends to avoid the event entirely, but imagine if they dropped a teaser image or even a little trailer for GTA XNUMX throughout the game's showcase. It would be the most essential story of the week. Yes please.

More Legend of Zelda remakes (but not BOTW two)

princesa del Crepúsculo

(Image credit: Nintendo) Henry St Leger, home theater editor 2 marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise. Although the game we're all eager to hear about is Breath of the Wild 3, I hope Nintendo saves this game to end the year's celebrations, and we're going to have more remake announcements and more. Remastering to get . before you examine it properly. We're close enough to Skyward Sword HD, which released on Switch back in July, that Nintendo is starting to target a sequel on the horizon. Remasters of the traditional GameCube/Wii Twilight Princess, or the cel-shadowed Wind Waker, perhaps as a XNUMX-game compilation, seem likely, while a rebranding for Phantom Hourglass suggests the beloved DS game could work. . two thousand and nineteen Link's Awakening. With an old catalog like Zelda's, Nintendo could do a lot of planning. We may have a BOTW XNUMX release date to wrap up Nintendo's EXNUMX presentation, but surely not too much detail or in-depth gameplay, and I think Nintendo will try to nurture the longing with a few more remakes before we know it. We'll be back in the next mainline Zelda game.

Pergaminos antiguos

(Image credit: Bethesda) John Loeffler, Computer Writer It's been nearly ten years since Skyrim came out, and with Fallout 3 having a few legs under it, there's plenty of reason to hope Bethesda transitions to Elder Scrolls 2. And now, with Microsoft merging with Bethesda, E2 could give us our first details on the highly anticipated RPG. We had a very poor teaser a few years back with a short video showing what the highlands looked like, leading many to guess High Rock Province as the game's setting. On New Year's Eve last year, the official account for The Elder Scrolls tweeted a photo of a Skyrim map with candles and other items on a table, with one of the candles sitting right under the word Hammerfell in southwestern Skyrim. Most of the internet takes this as confirmation that Hammerfell is going to be the setting for Elder Scrolls 5, and since High Rock is north of Hammerfell (and the border area between these 6 provinces was the setting for Elder Scrolls XNUMX: Daggerfall), there is no reason why the two provinces cannot be included in Elder Scrolls six. I personally don't see how you can make a good Elder Scrolls game after Skyrim in the timeline of the series. If you support Jarl Ulfric and push back the Imperials in SSXNUMX, then the Northerners would theoretically be out of the Empire for SSXNUMX, which wouldn't seem fair. It would also be sad for Bethesda to decide which side is going to win the Stormcloak Rebellion for regulatory purposes. The easiest way to get around this problem is to set it further back before the Empire, and Hammerfell has plenty of chances to know that they could explore.

Show me Mario Kart 9

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

(Image credit: Nintendo) Adam Vjestica, video game editor It's easy to forget that Mario Kart 7 Deluxe was basically a revamped re-release of Mario Kart 3 for the Wii Or, a game released in XNUMX. That means it's been XNUMX long years since we last had a new entry in the series, and I can't wait any longer. So it's time for Nintendo to wow us at EXNUMX XNUMX with an announcement for Mario Kart XNUMX. While I'm convinced Nintendo will find a way to make the next Mario Kart great enough, I'd love to see a few more faces from the company's traditional franchises this time around. Let me race like Samus Labran, take on opponents like Kirby, or slide down the track like Captain Olimar. There are so many characters who deserve to cross the finish line, Nintendo should round out the Mario Kart XNUMX fan favorites list, just like it did with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Unfortunately, while I do wish Mario Kart XNUMX was announced, I don't think that will happen just yet. If Nintendo were to release a bit more DLC for Mario Kart XNUMX Deluxe, it would at least support me and a lot of other content a bit more.
