Dragon's Dogma 2 is official and you can celebrate it by buying the OG game at a bargain price

Capcom made dreams come true with the announcement of Dragon's Dogma 2. Whose dreams? Mine. And now I'm going to do you a favor.

Dragon's Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno broke the news at the end of Dragon's Dogma's 10-year livestream (opens in a new tab). The team removed their hoodies to reveal matching t-shirts with the new Dragon's Dogma 2 logo. I'm pretty sure I heard the angels sing too, but maybe it was just my imagination.

The first game came out in 2012 and it was just amazing. The pawn system was amazing and I could sit here and rave about the game all day. But now you can play it and see for yourself for less than five dollars. It's so cheap right now on PC and console, and you should know what you've been missing, as you plan the sequel.

Take a cult classic for a flight

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is the re-released version of the game that includes a ton of additional content. It's been ported to PS4 and Xbox One so you can grab it from your console's respective store right now or on Steam. Look how crazy these prices are:

The only drawback to Dragon's Dogma at the time was his lack of cooperation. The pawns are great and the system is incredibly fun. Having them go on their own adventures to get helpful hints or find one to recruit adds a whole new level to the game. But that's not the same as playing with real humans.

That's why the release of the MMO Dragon's Dogma Online exclusively in Japan was a real flop. But the game was shut down in 2019 due to low player count, so I didn't feel so jealous after that.

Basically, we've been waiting a decade for a sequel here in the west. We were hoping to hear some Dragon's Dogma 2 news during the stream, so this announcement made my week. And the price of the original game right now has made it even more enjoyable. At this price, I'd say it's enough to buy it. It's less than the price of a coffee, and if you hate it, you can let me know on social media and I'll tell you why you're wrong.
