Destiny 2 will be free and will play on Steam with the next expansion in September

Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would now have a free version, and that it was now going to Steam. Plus the reveal of a new extension (and cross-backup functionality, for starters). This extension is called Shadowkeep and it takes place on the moon. It includes Eris Morn (from the original destination) and a mysterious citadel filled with nightmares from the past, representing the return of other important characters from the franchise. Shadowkeep will be available on September 17, and at the same time, Steam will become the home of Destiny 2 for PC, instead of Battle.net, with a simple migration process and no promised costs. Bungie said: "Today's PC gamers will be able to support their progress and their purchases. Their wards, their safes, and all their progress will make the move in a few quick steps." This change is not surprising given that Bungie parted ways with Activision in early 2019.

New light

The expansion will be standalone, so you won't have to buy previous content to access it, and the base game will be called Destiny 2: New Light, and it will be free (also on September 17). This free version will contain the entire first year of quests and content, as well as co-op dungeons and Crucifix PvP modes. Bungie also announced that Destiny 2 will have cross-backup capabilities across all platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Google Stadia) by syncing your progress and allowing you to play on your account from scratch. Device of your choice. Also, there will be more exclusive content related to a particular platform. Another promise is that Destiny 2 will be more MMO-focused and further develop this aspect of the game, including adding more mod slots and better player hardware customization options. It's good news to keep players interested in the online shooter, which has had a roller coaster ride since its release. Via PC Gamer
