Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed until November

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed again, CD Projekt Red announced on Twitter today, with a new release date of November 19, 2020. According to the studio co-founder and CD Projekt Red manager, the decision was made to give the team time to balance the game and fix bugs before its release. "As we write these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both in content and gameplay... But with such an abundance of content and complex interlocking systems, we have to go through everything to balance the game mechanics correctly and fix many bugs." The studio says it understands the disappointment fans must feel, but the decision has been made to give the game lasting appeal. As an offer of peace, CD Projekt Red says it has offered journalists a demo of the game and says previews with their impressions will be coming soon.

What does this mean for next-gen consoles?

The transition from a September release to a mid-November date brings the game closer to the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which should launch ``Holiday 2020'' (November/December). CD Projekt Red has already announced that the game is coming to next-gen consoles... but says an enhanced version probably won't be available at launch. There's always the chance that extra development time could make a difference on this front, with a cross-gen release, but don't be fooled.
