Computex 2019 was a mad race

Computex 2019 was a mad race
TechRadar hired me a little over a week ago and one of the first things I had to do was go to Taiwan to cover Computex, a big one. he asks, but I feel ready to attack 100%. Computer science has been one of my hobbies for most of my life, so the opportunity to see the future of IT in person was excellent. And, for the most part, it was even better than I had imagined. If you are a computer enthusiast, Computex should definitely be on your list. The amount of weird hardware, unique PC builds, and "wow" moments is mind-boggling. Also, it doesn't hurt that Taipei is a beautiful city.

The time difference is real, and & # 39; everything

It was my first time leaving the country and I heard all kinds of horror stories about jet lag that would have hit me like a brick. So when we landed in Taipei and we didn't immediately pass out when I got off the plane, I felt invincible. But then, a few hours went by and it hit me like a brick. I went from anticipating new AMD processors to an insatiable need to sleep in my hotel room. When I was finally able to check into this hotel room, I fell asleep within minutes. A few hours later, the people from Tom's Hardware woke me up and we went to one of the night markets. I felt dead when I got there, but after eating a ton of food of dubious nutritional value, I fell in love with everything I saw. Then the next morning Computex really kicked off.

Computex 2019

Meetings on meetings

I started Computex by visiting MSI, and while they had awesome laptops like the GT76 Titan and GE65 Raider, the best part was the giant Lego version of their mascot, Lucky. the dragon. This thing was absolutely massive, taking up an entire corner of the hall. They told us that MSI employees not only built it by hand at Computex, but also took it apart, brought it to the office, and reassembled it in the lobby. It was amazing, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I want one.

Computex 2019 Then I went to an Asus event, where he presented the magnificent Asus ZenBook Pro Duo and the strange ROG Strix XG17. But, at the end of this event, I was ready to pass out - jet lag still hit me really hard.

Computex 2019

This AMD press conference

You have to realize one thing: the rumors leading up to Computex 2019 focused on great performance from AMD, and that was the case. 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen processors are here, bringing up to 12 cores and 24 threads to a traditional audience for the first time. Granted, these aren't the 16-core processors suggested by the AdoredTV leaks, but they're still impressive, as Intel's Computex desktop processor is basically an overclocked Core i9-9900K. I was a little disappointed that the AMD Navi reveal was light (we'll wait for more details for E3), but at least we know it's coming soon. Nvidia and Intel later made speeches. While it's nice to know that 10nm processors are real, it's not hard to see the AMD guy win Computex. Well AMD and this new SteelSeries Apex Pro keyboard.

Computex 2019

The wings)

After all the major press conferences, the show was open and the weird and wonderful world of computer equipment was there for me. Computex contains so much amazing stuff, whether it's a treasure chest in the shape of a PC game called "The Time Traveler" or RGB SSD. Although, I have to admit, I didn't know how to navigate the living room at first. Computex 2019 was held in four different buildings, and it was difficult to determine which ones were worth a visit. Press registrations were in one building, press conferences in another, and there were two separate buildings, each with two floors of display. It was confusing, but oddly enough, most of the really cool stuff was in the Nangang expo center, so after some fine-tuning, it was easy to navigate and look at all the pretty RGB lights.

Computex 2019 One of the things that really blew me away is the weird gaming chairs that Cooler Master and XPG were showing. Cooler Master sells his "Gaming Hub Chair" for around € 5,000 (around € 3,950, or € 7,270), while XPG's offer was for the show only. If I'm honest, I'm not really sure who these chairs are targeting, but it's good to see that the Acer Predator Thronos has made an impact, although it's not going to make any difference. It is not yet available for purchase.

< p class="bordeaux-image-check"> Then there was this Asus Prime Utopia. I've seen hundreds of motherboards in my life, but none of them were as rare as this one. It is a motherboard equipped with a touch screen! I tweak my PC as much as the next person, but I never feel the need to reach the range when it's running to dig into the settings. But, since it's Asus' 30th anniversary, we have to wait for futuristic prototypes. Honestly, there's so much amazing stuff about Computex that it's impossible to cover everything. And, now that I'm sitting in the airport and waiting to get back to New York, I hope to return to Taipei for Computex next year.
