CES 2020 LaComparacion Awards: the best technology at the world's largest gadget show
Las Vegas was awash in technology this week as CES 2020 invaded the city and manufacturers from around the world are announcing new products at its variety of hotels and convention centers. The TechRadar team scouted newsrooms and press events at CES, and we've compiled our list of the best tech we've seen this year. It was hard to pick the favorites (literally thousands of companies are exhibiting products), but using our expert knowledge of the market, we were able to identify some highlights from what we saw at this year's show. Below you'll find the official winners of the TechRadar CES 2020 Awards, and a bit of explanation as to why we're awarding this innovation. Please note that these are listed in alphabetical order.

Alienware Concept UFO

(Image credit: Future) It's not a Nintendo Switch you see above: it's Alienware's latest concept, and it's an idea that aims to put PC gaming in your palms even when you're riding public transportation. Alienware hasn't specified if it plans to market this product in the future, but it's an exciting innovation from the company. During our hands-on review, we even declared that the Alienware Concept UFO had the ability to change the entire PC gaming market.

AMD Ryzen 4000 mobile

(Image credit: AMD) AMD had a brilliant 2019, and it looks like 2020 will be a fantastic year for the company as well, with AMD unveiling its Ryzen 4000 series of mobile processors at CES 2020. We're particularly excited about the performance benefits it brings AMD promises with its new lineup, which could see many new thin, light and powerful laptops appear. Some of the most exciting laptops we've seen at CES 2020, like the Asus Zephyrus G14, are going to rock the new AMD chip. Intel's dominance in the laptop market could be seriously threatened.

Bluetooth LE audio

(Image credit: Bluetooth SIG) Bluetooth is not a proprietary technology of any specific company. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group standardizes the technology, and this organization has just released its next iteration of the standard. It has a rather annoying name for Bluetooth LE Audio, but it might change your headphones one day. According to the authority, upgrading with LE Audio will improve sound quality and battery life. It might not be something you can specifically buy, but once it's available on a new headset or portable speaker, you'll appreciate this innovation.

Canon EOS 1D X Mark III

(Image credit: Future) The Nikon D780 might be a more realistic DSLR for most of us, but the 1DX Mark III propelled it to our CES 2020 price for two reasons: It's a real leap forward for Canon, and it gives us an overview of the fate of your cameras. . The 1DX Mark III offers incredibly powerful shooting functionality for professional sports photographers (20 frames per second continuous shooting, virtually unlimited buffer) with some exciting innovations for the rest of us, including Intelligent Controller, "deep learning" autofocus. and HEIF support. It could be the first star of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Dell XPS 13 (2020)

(Image credit: Future) The Dell XPS 13 has consistently topped our best laptop list over the years, and this year's model, which we had time with at CES 2020, looks set to continue with that. this legacy. Again, Dell has created a beautifully designed laptop with top notch build quality. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and its screen is to die for, with up to 4K resolution and small lenses. Dell also promises 19 hours of battery life on a single charge. The world's best laptop just got even better.

JBL 9.1 Dolby Atmos Sound Bar

JBL 9.1 Dolby Atmos Sound Bar

(Image credit: JBL) This JBL soundbar isn't an entirely new concept. It has two true wireless battery-powered speakers so you can unplug and place them wherever you want when you want surround sound. We've seen JBL do this since 2017, but this is the first time we've seen Dolby Atmos included. The detachable backs are what makes it unique compared to other home theater offerings. Don't want to run cables along your walls to set up your speakers? This may be how you can enjoy exceptional sound.

Samsung bot boss

(Image credit: Future) Perhaps the strangest entry on this list is the Samsung Bot Chef who made a salad for one of our editors as they walked across the floor at CES. You'll see above that it includes two robot arms that can rummage through cabinets and pour ingredients into a pan to prepare your dinner. The Chef Bot currently knows 35 different types of recipes (currently limited to salads), which is made possible by AI technologies and computer vision algorithms.

Samsung Q950TS 8K AI QLED

(Image credit: Samsung) CES is known for its TV ads, but in 2020 there's only one on this list of the show's best tech. It is the latest high-end TV from Samsung and it is called Q950TS 8K AI QLED. It has a nearly invisible bezel, impressive peak brightness, and contrast is also excellent on this TV. There's also an innovative new speaker system that should beat out much of the competition from other manufacturers. Discover all of TechRadar's CES 2020 covers.
