Canon recently launched two new mirrorless cameras during its REIMAGINE global broadcast live. The retailer has now published their South African prices and they are not user friendly. The flagship EOS R5 and the slightly more affordable (but not cheap) EOS R6 drew praise from the moment Canon revealed them to the world. As they compete for the best mirrorless camera positions, it's not surprising that they come with a hefty price tag to back up their high-end design. The big reveal
The flagship Canon EOS R5, designed for professionals, sold for R€81,999 for the body only. It is a camera for professionals and therefore not entirely unexpected. If you want to invest in lenses, the high price tag will rise well at the R100,000 mark. The "cheapest" hobbyist-designed EOS R6 doesn't skimp on its features either, and isn't a great deal. At R48,495 for the body alone, it's just over half the price of its big brother and the most likely to go for the most. Pre-orders for both cameras are available on the Orms Direct website, but there is no date for their arrival in the country.
