Call of Duty: Modern Warfare attacks your hard drive with the largest size ever installed on PC

The system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have been revealed on PC, and as far as we know, this is the largest install size ever seen in PC games.

Modern Warfare requires 175 GB of disk space, thus exceeding the size of the revealed installation for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, which occupies 150 GB.

Both games could be a serious problem for those looking to install titles on an SSD, if it is a smaller SSD (which is certainly some older models). Obviously these sizes could pose a problem for anyone who does not have disk space in general.

As mentioned, this is the largest install size ever seen, beating the RDR2 mentioned above, and the guy from Final Fantasy 15, which has managed to rack up a 148GB install (albeit with the high-res textures included).

As we've already discussed in our Red Dead Redemption 2 specs, increasingly prevalent install sizes are a growing trend with PC gaming, with a number of titles recently approaching the 100GB level (Forza 7 requires 100 GB, Gears 5 with 80GB install, and earlier versions of Call of Duty were PC hard drives).

These massive install sizes are getting higher and higher for high-quality, high-resolution textures in general (although high-quality sound can also mess things up).

Call of Duty: System Requirements for Modern Warfare

For the rest of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PC specs, they work as follows:

Minimum

recommendable

You may recall that the game's beta test specification recommended 16GB of system memory. It seems that for the most recent version, it has been downgraded to 12GB.

Again, requiring more than 8GB according to recommended specs is another PC gaming trend, and Red Dead Redemption 2 also has this recommended amount for system memory (as well as Battlefield 5 and Forza Horizon 4).

Also note that DX12 is mandatory, although the game is compatible with Windows 7 at the minimum required - head here for a more in-depth discussion of the ins and outs of what might be going on.
