BT sold its fleet management business to private equity firm Aurelius as part of an ongoing restructuring program for the UK's largest telecommunications company.

Founded in 2002, BT Fleet Management is responsible for 80,000 vehicles for 26 companies in the UK, including BT.

The unit is based in Solihull and has a national network of 65 internal garages and 500 associated facilities. In total, it employs more than 950 people.

As part of this agreement, the division, which will change its name in the next 12 months, will continue to manage BT's fleet. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed, but it should be finalized in the second half of this year.

The changes are expected to save € 1.3 billion, allow the streamlined company to react more quickly to market trends and be closer to customers. There will be fewer executive roles with more responsibilities and more engineering and customer service jobs created.

Last month the company confirmed the signing of a deal to sell its London headquarters in St Pauls for £ 210 million and lease the building for 30 months, the time of installation at new premises in Aldgate.
