BT Broadband gives parents the power to pause the Internet even with Wi-Fi controls

BT has announced a new free update, called Wi-Fi Controls, which gives parents more control over their Internet. This new feature, which now accompanies all BT Broadband offerings, is for parents who want to manage their family screen time in a healthier way.

Of the many broadband offerings currently available, this new feature certainly contributes to BT's appeal. Wi-Fi commands are reserved for users with a Smart Hub 2, which allows more control over this device, including the ability to block the Internet. Yes, with the MyBT app, parents can pause the internet for specific devices.

Up to 15 devices can be controlled via the Wi-Fi command feature, which allows parents to schedule and pause the connection for as little or as long as they want. There is also the possibility of creating groups, so you can have one set of rules for a certain age of the children and another for a different age. The idea is to offer a way to control screen time so that families can spend more time together.

Carolyn Bunting, CEO of Internet Matters, said: "One size doesn't fit all, so setting up groups of devices that can connect at different times will help parents deal with different screen time needs." .

"Involve children in the process of setting limits, depending on their age, how long they can spend online, when and on what platform is the best way to ensure that they have a good mix of on-screen activities."
