Breath of the Wild 2 Won't Look That Good, But We Really Wish It Did

Nintendo is still keeping an eye on Breath of the Wild 2 and didn't reveal any new information about the highly anticipated sequel during the latest Nintendo Direct. Against the backdrop of Link's impending return, however, ongoing rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 - or Nintendo Switch Pro if he will - are surging and refuse to go away. Speculation indicates that this is a more powerful iteration of the company's hugely popular hybrid device, capable of producing 4K images when docked. It leaves those of us with fanciful imaginations to sit back and speculate, even dream, about what could be accomplished with Nintendo's seemingly imminent new Switch model. Speaking of which, we've often wondered what Nintendo could achieve with more powerful hardware, and thanks to the advanced power of PC hardware and clever emulation, those daydreams sometimes come true. Neither is Nintendo Switch 2). The video shows the Wii U version of Link's Outdoor Adventure running on the CEMU emulator and is the work of the Digital Dreams YouTube channel. As you can see, the ray-traced global illumination makes Breath of the Wild's lush landscapes look simply stunning, and the REVO Reshade Redux mod, created by Pascal Glicher, helps make the game look more realistic than ever.

Sadly, we'll likely wait years to see this level of detail in Nintendo games. After the Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo took a different approach than Sony and Microsoft, often choosing cheaper, less powerful hardware designed to take advantage of a new controller or design idea. However, this idea-driven approach has paid off for Nintendo, as the Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo Switch have sold millions upon millions of units. Of course, it doesn't always work, as the Wii U has proven so well, though the Nintendo Switch certainly benefits from the Wii U's library. Today's best Nintendo Switch deals
