Nintendo is still keeping an eye on Breath of the Wild 2 and didn't reveal any new information about the highly anticipated sequel during the latest Nintendo Direct. Against the backdrop of Link's impending return, however, ongoing rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 - or Nintendo Switch Pro if he will - are surging and refuse to go away. Speculation indicates that this is a more powerful iteration of the company's hugely popular hybrid device, capable of producing 4K images when docked. It leaves those of us with fanciful imaginations to sit back and speculate, even dream, about what could be accomplished with Nintendo's seemingly imminent new Switch model. Speaking of which, we've often wondered what Nintendo could achieve with more powerful hardware, and thanks to the advanced power of PC hardware and clever emulation, those daydreams sometimes come true. Concrete example, Breath of the Wild running in 8K with ray tracing. In the video below, you can marvel at possibly the best Switch game released to date with a level of graphics fidelity that simply isn't possible on Nintendo hardware (and certainly won't be achievable on Nintendo hardware). Neither is Nintendo Switch 2). The video shows the Wii U version of Link's Outdoor Adventure running on the CEMU emulator and is the work of the Digital Dreams YouTube channel. As you can see, the ray-traced global illumination makes Breath of the Wild's lush landscapes look simply stunning, and the REVO Reshade Redux mod, created by Pascal Glicher, helps make the game look more realistic than ever.
