Bloober Team presents its new horror game, but it is not a remake of Silent Hill 2 (*two*)

The team at Bloober announced during their Summer Game Fest keynote that they are working on a new entry in their Layers of Fear first-person psychological horror series.

Layers of Fears, as the sequel is called, was announced with a world first trailer during the keynote, and according to the developer (opens in a new tab), it is "a new game built on the foundations of Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear: Inheritance and Layers of Fear 2 with a stunning new story and game direction."

This new "horror chronicle" revisits the painter from the original game, with his wife again apparently as an antagonist. Watch the trailer below:

Built on Unreal Engine 5, Layers of Fears will support ray tracing, HDR, 4K, and will "use the Lumen system to deliver the most immersive and visceral horror experience."

In the YouTube description of the next entry in the series, Bloober Teams states:

"Layers of Fears will be the complete, definitive, and at the same time unpredictable way to experience the stories of artists enslaved by their obsessions. Get ready for an exquisite horror experience through expanded stories that shed new light on the overall narrative.

The Layers of Fears announcement seemingly quells rumors that the developer was working on an unconfirmed remake of Silent Hill 2, which is a real shame, as the two could have been a scary combination (it opens in a new tab).

Layers of Fears is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC in early 2023.
