The Vava 4K projector is now just $1,949 in Amazon's early Black Friday deals, down to a whopping $850 off its original RRP. That's the lowest price we've seen for this high-performance projector, with the $600 discount it got for Prime Day 2020 now handily surpassed. (Not in the US? Other early Black Friday deals are already popping up, and anyone looking to finish shopping for home theater kits could do a lot worse than this 4K projector. The Vava 4K projector started out as a crowdfunding model, but it surprised us with its impressive laser projection and 2.500-lumen brightness. As an ultra-short-throw projector, you can also place it against a wall, which means you won't need a large living room or tilt this model from the ceiling. While most of the best projectors slack off when it comes to audio, this is one area where the Vava projector also excels. Harmon Kardon audio specialists are responsible for this projector's built-in speaker system, which packs 60W of detailed sound. It's not the same quality you might get with a proper surround speaker system, but it does mean the Vava projector can hold its own with movie soundtracks and the like. (However, an additional subwoofer or soundbar might be a good investment for lower frequencies.) You won't find a proper wide color gamut here, just Rec.709, which means you only get 8-bit color depth, rather than the 10-bit color depth that HDR10 is capable of. We recommend setting the brightness to High rather than Standard to increase the color impact, although it does put the fans to work a bit harder in the process. The operating system is somewhat chaotic, with an impenetrable list of applications; it might be worth getting something like the Fire TV Stick 4K for a cleaner user experience. Also, keep in mind that spotlights are suitable for darker environments, and looking through the day with the blinds open may not provide the best image.
