It features a built-in 450W soundbar with six drivers and a motorized stand that allows you to tilt the screen based on your viewing position. It's a gorgeous TV on the floor (instead of the one you're climbing on the wall).

The screen itself is an OLED made by LG. You get the same image quality and the same software, WebOS, as one of LG's sets. That means perfect black and excellent color, if not as strong as Sony's latest high-end LCD TVs.

If you don't mind the magical B&O sprayed on the Eclipse, you'll see similar image quality with one of LG's latest OLEDs. However, this is a TV that cannot be simply summed up in its picture compared to the price - it offers a different experience and look than all other TVs.

There are a handful of options if you want a premium OLED TV. Sony, Panasonic, and LG make them all, and each offers multiple options.

The Sony KD-65AF9 is also one of the best. Sony has developed excellent upscaling algorithms, which means that even HD / SDR images benefit from the cinematic processing of this 4K package, often more than LG panels. The new X1 Ultimate processor clearly facilitates image processing, with the brilliant colors and perfect contrast expected from a first-class OLED.

The previous AF9 struggled with a frustrating smart platform, but its successor's Android Oreo interface is simpler, simpler, and much faster to load.

Sony always insists on a lighter design that performs better on paper than in practice, but it's a small complaint for one of the best OLEDs of the year. Just stay away from Netflix's calibrated mode - in its current version, it tends to harm rather than help the image.

Samsung has pushed the limits of the possible brightness of its quantum dot LEDs (known as QLEDs), turning them into brilliant displays that really shine in these high dynamic range colors.

This is no clearer than Q90 QLED, with a maximum brightness of 1600 nits, well above the 1000 nits required for UHD Premium certification. The Q90 isn't just brilliant, it's one of the brightest ensembles ever designed.

In addition to an impressive number, this brightness has a real impact on the overall image quality. Details are preserved, even in the brightest areas of the image, and colors are exceptionally bright and brilliant, although Samsung's QLEDs may flourish slightly around bright objects (the price of such a backlit display).

Samsung's new technology, Ultra Viewing Angle, also preserves the off-axis color depth, making it a great LCD TV.

Philips has dramatically improved the image processing power of its 2018 OLED TVs, and the benefits of this new beam are visible, with improved contrast and dramatic colors.

The brand's second-generation P5 processing engine offers twice the processing power of the original, making for quite an impressive chip.

But perhaps the main asset is what Philip's Ambilight lighting system brings to the viewing experience, projecting colors onto the wall in a complete feast for the eyes. Why limit the picture on television, after all?

Buyers should weigh the visual benefits and minor irritations, such as the lack of up-to-date television, two standard UHD HDMI inputs, and the absence of Dolby Vision.

However, the striking colors of the Philips Hue-compatible ambilight lighting system and the implementation of the Android Oreo smart system could balance the accounts.

If OLED displays seem too expensive, LG may only have its plan B. The LG OLED B8, like the OLED B7 above, is a great entry point into OLED display technology.

This is the exact same OLED panel as LG's more advanced W8, C8, or E8 TVs. Even if it's a leap forward, you still get serious OLED contrast levels at a more affordable price.

The B8 stuck with last year's processor while the rest of the family benefits from an update, but still gets an excellent entry level of image quality. The body of the set has also been reduced to just 1.85 inches, apparently without affecting the sound quality of its built-in speakers.

If you want to experience OLED technology at a lower price than the C8, the B8 is still an example of excellent image quality and excellent design. Get on this OLED ladder.
