BenQ focuses on 4K ultra-short throw projectors
BenQ has a new ultra short throw projector and it should offer even richer and more vivid colors than the company's previous projectors. The V7000i and V7050i are two black and white color variants of a new UST projector. Building on the success of the V6050, which we gave 4.5/5 stars in our test, the new models would offer "1.3 times more color volume" than similar models with a 100-inch projection size. These are 4K projectors, containing 8 million pixels for Ultra HD detail. It's also true 4K, rather than the "pixel shift" technology used to create more detail than the projector can translate from its source. You get basic HDR10 support, as well as the HLG SDR-HDR broadcast standard, helping to elevate everyday TV, as well as HDR shows and movies. The V7000i and V7050i each contain two HDMI 2.0 ports for connecting game consoles and media players, but not the HDMI 2.1 standard found on the best gaming TVs. These are two of the few new BenQ models announced for this year, with the "i" denoting a revised Smart TV interface provided by Android TV (the same operating system used in Sony TVs). So the main difference to the V6050 is probably this better intelligence, as the V6050 doesn't come with a built-in smart platform at all. We found that the V6050 projector sometimes had trouble achieving deep enough blacks, although this is an area that's often a problem with projectors, which rely so heavily on bright, efficient distribution of light in a room. You still get 98% of the DCI-P3 color space, for vivid, saturated colors and high overall accuracy.

It's worth noting that BenQ recently released the X1300i, an HD/120Hz gaming projector, as well as the TK700STi, a 4K/60Hz model. So if you're primarily looking for a gaming projector or want to save a few pennies, you might want to go for some of these alternatives, especially since they both feature the new Android TV operating system found on the V7000i. /V7050i. However, for a complete home theater experience and one that comes with the conveniences of ultra-short-throw projection, the V7000i / V7050i may be your best option. Regardless, we'll be sure to put one of these models to the test in a future review. Today's best BenQ X1300i projector deals
