Amazon has revealed that it is shutting down its cloud storage platform as part of another consolidation push by the tech giant.
The company sent an email to Amazon Drive customers to confirm that the service will be shutting down at the end of next year.
The move is part of Amazon's push for its Amazon Photos service, which will now become a central location for storing photos and videos.

"For the past 11 years, Amazon Drive has served as a secure cloud storage service for Amazon customers to back up their files," the company's email to customers reads.
"On December 31, 2023, we will no longer support Amazon Drive to further focus our efforts on storing photos and videos with Amazon Photos. We will continue to offer customers the ability to securely back up, share, and organize the security of photos and videos with Amazon Photos.
Users will need to upload all of their files before the closing date, but existing Amazon users' photo and video files will be automatically saved to Amazon Photos.
The service will remain fully operational until December 31, 2023, but the company says that as of January 31, 2023, it will no longer support uploading files to the Amazon Drive website.
It adds that the Amazon Photos app is now available for iOS, Android and desktop users, and existing Amazon Prime members get free unlimited full-resolution photo storage and 5GB of video storage. videos
