There's more news about the updated DualShock controllers that Sony could integrate with the PlayStation 5 when it launches late next year, especially in terms of additional rear buttons than you might get. A recently published patent discovered by LetsGoDigital shows a DualShock controller with four new buttons on the back of the device, perhaps to act as back buttons to match the capabilities of Xbox One gamepads. The layout shows two larger buttons. that can be moved up and down, and two smaller buttons that can be pressed (and can feel the pressure of a press). It seems possible to adjust the position of the buttons according to the size of your hands. As for how these buttons will be used, the patent doesn't go into too much detail: except to say that they'll be used to control video game characters, so no surprises there.

Also, as with any patent, just because it's filed doesn't necessarily mean Sony will follow through. What makes us think they might be back buttons is that the sketches look similar to the new back button button unveiled by Sony for existing DualShock 4 controllers. Perhaps the DualShock 5 won't need any accessories. For now, this is largely speculation - we know the new PS5 will come with a new PS5 controller, one that improves player immersion and console feedback - but details of what this entails have been scant on officials. the ground so far.
